The CSR Journal Magazine

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has announced the appointment of key state in-charges and co-in-charges for Uttar Pradesh, Punjab, and Gujarat as part of its preparations for the upcoming Assembly elections in 2027. This decision was made public by BJP national president Nitin Nabin on August 18, 2026, during a press release issued by the party.

Vinod Tawde, the National General Secretary and Rajya Sabha MP, has been designated as the in-charge for Uttar Pradesh, while Jagdish Ishwarbhai Patel, the National Secretary, will serve as co-in-charge for the state. In Punjab, Dr. Satish Poonia, also a National General Secretary and Rajya Sabha MP, has been named state in-charge.

For Gujarat, Tarun Chugh, a Rajya Sabha MP and the in-charge at the BJP National Headquarters, has been appointed as state in-charge. The party has indicated that further appointments for in-charges in additional states will follow in due course, although the current Prabhari arrangement will remain in effect for those locations.

Organisational Restructuring Under Nitin Nabin

This series of appointments follows the announcement of a new organisational team by BJP chief Nitin Nabin on August 17, 2026. The team combines experienced individuals and younger members, maintaining continuity while also embracing change. Anil Baluni continues to oversee the media team as Convenor, ensuring a strategic blend of expertise.

The party has also appointed a fresh set of General Secretaries, which includes prominent figures such as former Amethi MP Smriti Irani and former Chief Minister of Tripura Biplab Deb. Other notable names in the new team of General Secretaries include Sunil Bansal, Vinod Tawde, Gajendra Patel, Satish Poonia, Harish Dwivedi, and Sanjay Bhatia.

Additionally, a roster of senior leaders has been appointed as National Vice Presidents. This group includes former Chief Ministers and several other key party figures. Notably, six of the thirteen new vice presidents are women, highlighting an effort towards greater gender representation within the organisational structure.

Broader Geographical Representation and Specialised Roles

The newly appointed National Secretaries represent a diverse geographical spectrum across India. This team includes Kavita Patidar from Madhya Pradesh, K. Surendran from Kerala, Dr. Bhola Singh from Uttar Pradesh, Pradip Varma from Jharkhand, and Sandeep Pathak from Delhi, among others. Such diversity aims to strengthen the party’s regional connections and outreach.

Piyush Goyal has been reappointed as National Treasurer, underscoring his ongoing involvement in the party’s financial management. The Central Office will be overseen by Rajya Sabha MP Tarun Chugh, ensuring coordinated operations at the headquarters.

In addition to these roles, Hemang Joshi will lead the Yuva Morcha, while the Mahila Morcha will be chaired by Roop Kumari Choudhary from Chhattisgarh. Anil Baluni continues to serve as Media Convenor, alongside co-convenors Ashish Usha Agrawal, Pradeep Bhandari, and Siddharth Yadav. The social media strategy will be managed by Deepak Mhaskey from Chhattisgarh, reflecting a comprehensive approach to the party’s outreach efforts.
