Apple May Launch Foldable iPhones, Smart Glasses and Home Devices by 2027

The CSR Journal Magazine

Apple is reportedly preparing one of its most extensive product roadmaps in recent years, with plans for foldable iPhones, AI-powered smart glasses, upgraded AirPods and a range of new Macs, iPads and smart home devices between 2026 and 2027.

According to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, the company is also working on entirely new categories, including AirPods with built-in cameras and a tabletop robot with artificial intelligence capabilities. If the plans materialise, they could mark one of Apple’s most ambitious periods of product launches.

Foldable iPhone Could Debut This Year

Gurman, in his latest Power On newsletter, said Apple’s product cycle could begin in September with the launch of the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max, alongside the company’s first foldable smartphone.

The foldable device, which Gurman refers to as the iPhone Ultra, is expected to headline the event. Apple may also unveil the Apple Watch Series 12 and Apple Watch Ultra 4 during the same launch.

The company is additionally said to be preparing several Mac models and an updated entry-level iPad powered by a new processor that supports Apple Intelligence.

Smart Home Products and OLED iPad Mini in Development

Apple could also introduce its long-rumoured smart home hub in 2026. The device is expected to feature a 7-inch display and serve as a central controller for connected home devices.

According to Gurman’s earlier reports, the product resembles a square-shaped iPad that can either sit on a half-dome speaker base or be mounted on a wall. Its interface is said to feature circular app icons similar to those found on the Apple Watch.

One of the key features under development is facial recognition. The device would reportedly identify users as they approach and present personalised information, including appointments, reminders, notes, music preferences and news updates.

Apple is also said to be working on an iPad mini with an OLED display.

Meanwhile, a refreshed Apple TV and HomePod mini with Apple Intelligence capabilities are believed to be undergoing advanced testing. Gurman said he would be surprised if the products did not arrive this year.

While no major redesigns are expected, the devices could receive support for the new Siri and possibly a redesigned Apple TV remote.

Special iPhones Planned for 20th Anniversary

Apple is reportedly planning a major celebration for the iPhone’s 20th anniversary next year.

According to the report, the company could begin the year with the launch of a second-generation iPhone Air. The updated model is expected to address criticism directed at the first-generation device by offering better battery life and a second rear camera.

Later in the year, Apple is expected to introduce special anniversary models that could be named the iPhone 20 Pro and iPhone 20 Pro Max.

These devices are also expected to be accompanied by a second-generation foldable iPhone.

Apple is said to be developing a new generation of AirPods as well. The earbuds could incorporate cameras capable of providing visual information to Siri’s AI system.

Smart Glasses and Tabletop Robot May Arrive Later

Apple’s long-rumoured smart glasses are now expected to arrive towards the end of 2027, according to Gurman. Earlier reports had suggested a launch by the end of this year.

Looking further ahead, the company is reportedly developing a tabletop robot that could launch in late 2027 or 2028. The device is expected to build on the smart home display concept and feature a robotic arm along with artificial intelligence capabilities.

Gurman had previously reported that the device is intended to behave almost like another person in a room. It could proactively suggest restaurants or recipes during discussions about meals and support conversational interactions for activities such as planning holidays or completing everyday tasks.

The system is expected to function in a manner similar to OpenAI’s voice mode.

Beyond these products, Apple is also said to be working on a redesigned Vision headset and, eventually, augmented reality glasses.

None of the products mentioned in the report have been officially announced by Apple.
