In a disturbing incident, a 61-year-old Anganwadi worker was publicly humiliated. This incident is of Rasool village in Telangana’s Kangti mandal, on Wednesday a Anganwadi woman worker was dragged and tied to a tree for alleged financial dispute linked to her husband. The victim named Patlolla Vasanthakumari, has been serving in local Anganwadi centre for years, and was targeted by villagers for long. Police confirmed that this incident is related to money, a group of people who tied her to a tree held her accountable for the money her husband borrowed. Her husband worked as a collection agent at a private financial firm HBN, and he had as per the mob, had collected money but never returned it.

Threatened to shave her head

In the complaint registered by the victim Vasanthakumari, she alleged two unidentified women forcibly pulled her and dragged her and then three men tied her to a tree. For over an hour she was tied to the tree, even though she repetitively asked for help, nobody listen just watch her being humiliated. “I was threatened that they would shave my head and deface me and parade me on a donkey through,” she shared. This incident came to light when the victim approached the police authorities on Wednesday. Case has been registered against five people and investigation has been initiated. Commenting on the inhuman act, the SI of Kangti Sidda Durgareddy said the matter is being treated with utmost urgency, “No individual has the right to take the law into their own hands. We are identifying the involvement of each accused and strict legal action will follow,” he noted.

Currently police is recording statement from the eyewitness of the village and also investigating the financial allegations involved against the husband of the victim.

Similar incident happened in Ludhiana

In the premise of government school inMahmoodpura village, Ludhiana, similar incident of assault was registered. A female Anganwadi worker was brutally attacked. She was assaulted by a man in school premise and then abducted and further tortured. This incident happened on March 19 morning.  In the police statement, victim Kulwinder Kaur said on March 19, 2026 morning around 10:15 a.m., when she was performing her daily duties in school, one Gurjot Singh and Sukhwinder Kaur, forcefully entered the school and started physically assaulting her. The assault case also involves some gold jewelry.
