Amit Shah, the Union Home Minister, marked the 76th birthday of Prime Minister Narendra Modi by visiting Vadnagar, the Prime Minister’s birthplace. During the visit on September 17, 2026, Shah expressed his admiration for Modi’s dedicated service over the past 25 years as both a state and national leader. He highlighted that this remarkable commitment consisted of working 16 to 18 hours daily without taking any days off, a feat he claims is unparalleled in the annals of independent India.

At a public event, Shah prayed for Modi’s health and longevity, reflecting on the significance of the occasion. He announced the commencement of the ‘Seva Sankalp Abhiyan,’ a journey set to begin from Vadnagar to Varanasi involving 600 bikers. This initiative aims to enhance awareness about Modi’s lengthy public service, traversing seven states and numerous villages during the trip.

Details of the ‘Seva Sankalp Abhiyan’

The ‘Seva Sankalp Abhiyan’ is designed to celebrate Modi’s extensive contributions to India. Shah noted that the biking group includes 300 bikers departing from Vadnagar and another 300 from Varanasi, signifying a united effort to showcase PM Modi’s dedication to public service. The journey will symbolically connect different locations, emphasising the reach and impact of Modi’s leadership across various regions.

Shah made it a point to reiterate that since gaining independence, no other politician has maintained the same level of leadership for such a sustained period. He described PM Modi’s commitment to his responsibilities as a historical achievement, setting a benchmark for future leaders.

In his statements, Shah urged the younger generation to follow Modi’s vision for a prosperous India by 2047, referring to the importance of youth in continuing this legacy. He expressed that PM Modi’s work ethic and relentless dedication serve as a model for future generations.

Accomplishments of PM Modi Addressed by Shah

Amit Shah outlined several significant initiatives undertaken by PM Modi, specifically noting the alleviation of poverty for 25 crore individuals. He detailed various welfare schemes, highlighting that Modi has contributed to providing essential services such as housing, electricity, clean water, and medical coverage. According to Shah, these efforts have directly benefited around 80 crore citizens, marking substantial progress in poverty alleviation and social welfare.

Among the specific programmes mentioned were monthly distributions of 5 kg of free food grains, medical coverage of up to Rs 5 lakh, and the provisioning of gas cylinders and toilet facilities for citizens. Shah’s remarks underscored the extensive reach of Modi’s governance in addressing these critical societal issues.

Shah also acknowledged Modi’s approach to national security and governance reforms. He highlighted Modi’s declaration as ‘Pradhan Sevak’ during his speech at the Red Fort, which he asserted marked a new approach to transparency and accountability in government. Shah conveyed that Modi has effectively dealt with issues related to corruption and administration, aiming for a clean governance model.

Calls for Celebration from Political Leaders

In conjunction with these celebrations, Rajasthan Deputy Chief Minister Diya Kumari called upon citizens to participate in lighting lamps on the evening of September 17. She encouraged people to express their gratitude for PM Modi’s 25 years of public service by lighting a ‘Lamp of Blessings’ in their homes. This initiative aimed to create a collective sense of appreciation for the Prime Minister’s contributions to the nation.

In her post on the social media platform X, Kumari articulated the importance of communal celebration and gratitude on this milestone occasion, reinforcing the event’s significance in the context of national pride and service.
