Ahmedabad Woman Murders Husband In Front Of Minor Son, Then Dies By Suicide

The CSR Journal Magazine

A devastating domestic conflict escalated into a double tragedy in Ahmedabad on Monday. A woman allegedly killed her husband, a traffic police constable, before taking her own life. The disturbing incident unfolded at the couple’s official residence in the Danilimda police quarters. The shocking part of the story is that the incident occurred in the presence of their minor son.

Victims Identified, Child Witnessed the Incident

According to police reports, the deceased have been identified as 33-year-old Mukesh Parmar and his wife, Sangita Parmar.. Mukesh was a constable posted at the A Division Traffic Police Station in Sola. Police officials confirmed that the couple’s nine-year-old son was at home during the altercation. The child ran to alert neighbors, who then informed the authorities.

According to Deputy Commissioner of Police (Zone 6), Ravi Mohan Saini, a suicide note was recovered from the scene. The note was reportedly written by Sangita after her husband’s death. The note, which runs over one-and-a-half pages, details ongoing disputes between the couple. It cites marital discord and financial stress as primary causes behind the tragedy. The note has been further forwarded to the Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) for verification and handwriting analysis.

Heated Argument Turns Fatal

Investigators believe the situation escalated rapidly during a verbal altercation. Constable Parmar, who had likely just returned from duty, was allegedly involved in a heated argument with Sangita. During the confrontation, he reportedly struck her with his police helmet.

In retaliation, Sangita allegedly picked up the wooden leg of a cradle and hit him on the head, causing severe bleeding. Believing he had merely fainted, she placed a cloth under his head. But upon realizing he had died, she wrote the suicide note and later hanged herself.

“It resulted in an altercation between the couple in the morning when their son was present in the house,” Deputy Commissioner of Police Ravi Mohan Saini said.

“Parmar died on the spot after being hit on the head with a wooden stick by Sangita. She then hanged herself and left behind a suicide note, which revealed the altercation was due to marital and financial issues,” the DCP said.

Minor Son Runs to Neighbours for Help

Their young son, reportedly aged nine (though some sources cite seven), is said to have witnessed the entire incident. After seeing both parents unresponsive, he rushed out to seek help from neighbours, who immediately contacted police.

Inspector G J Ravat of Danilimda police station confirmed that the couple had a history of frequent arguments. Sources familiar with the investigation allege that Mukesh’s suspected extramarital affair with a female police colleague had worsened the couple’s relationship, contributing to recent tensions. He had reportedly been staying away from home for extended periods.

ACP (K Division) Y A Gohil, said that the Parmars’ nine-year-old son who was at home when the double tragedy occurred rushed to the neighbours for help. They, in turn, called the cops. “It appears that the child witnessed the heated argument between the couple,” said Gohil.

Official Investigation Underway

Assistant Commissioner of Police (K Division), Y A Gohil, stated that the probe is ongoing. While a case of murder has been formally registered against Sangita Parmar, police emphasize that the primary focus now is on understanding the full sequence of events and ensuring the well-being of the minor child, who is currently in the care of relatives.

“Parmar, in uniform at the time having possibly just returned from duty, is believed to have hit Sangita with his helmet. In retaliation, Sangita struck him on the head with the leg of the cradle. When he started bleeding and became unresponsive, she placed a cloth under his head assuming he had fainted. Later, on realizing that he had died, she wrote a suicide note and ended her life,” said police.

Similar Incident Reported in Hyderabad

In a separate case, a 43-year-old woman in Hyderabad allegedly died by suicide by jumping from her fifth-floor apartment on August 2. According to police, handwritten notes were recovered, and family members stated she had been undergoing psychological treatment for several years.

The tragic incident in Ahmedabad highlights the often-unseen consequences of domestic strife and mental stress. Police officials urge individuals facing personal crises to seek help before situations escalate beyond control.
