Two Maoist insurgents were killed in an encounter with security personnel near the Indravati River in Bijapur district, Chhattisgarh. This confrontation occurred as part of a coordinated anti-Maoist operation initiated based on intelligence reports regarding militant activity in the area.

Following the clash, law enforcement recovered multiple firearms, including an SLR rifle, an INSAS rifle, and a 12-bore shotgun, as well as explosives and other materials associated with Maoist operations.

Details of the Encounter

The encounter took place during a joint operation led by security forces who were acting on specific information about the presence of Maoists in the vicinity. Following the gunfight in the morning, the bodies of the two deceased insurgents, dressed in uniforms, were found at the scene.

Bijapur Superintendent of Police Dr. Jitendra Yadav confirmed the findings and indicated that a thorough search operation was underway to further secure the area.

Recent IED Incident in Bijapur District

Prior to this incident, on February 23, a member of the Special Task Force (STF) suffered injuries due to an explosion from an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) that was allegedly planted by Maoist militants. The injury occurred during an area domination operation in the southern part of Bijapur district. The injured personnel was promptly transported to a medical facility for specialized treatment.
