Three Killed in Bus–Taxi Collision Near Goobanapalli in Anantapur

Three individuals lost their lives in a tragic road accident on March 1 near Goobanapalli, located in the Anantapur district of Andhra Pradesh. The collision involved a state-run RTC bus and a taxi car. The RTC bus was en route from Kalyandurg to Rayadurg when the incident occurred, according to local authorities. Ravi Babu, Deputy Superintendent of Police for Kalyandurgam, stated that the three victims died at the scene of the accident. The bodies were reportedly trapped inside the severely damaged taxi, necessitating considerable effort from police to retrieve them.

Identities of the Deceased

The victims have been identified as residents of Karnataka. Following the accident, local law enforcement has initiated an inquiry and filed a case to investigate the circumstances surrounding the collision. Further information regarding the accident is still pending as authorities continue their investigation into the matter.

Related Incident in Kakinada

On the same day, another tragic incident occurred in Andhra Pradesh when a fire broke out in a firecracker manufacturing unit in Vetlapalem, Kakinada district. This disaster resulted in the deaths of at least 18 individuals, with several others sustaining critical injuries. In response, Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu visited the site of the fire to offer condolences to the bereaved families and assess the situation.

Government Response

During his visit, Chief Minister Naidu announced an ex-gratia payment of ₹20 lakh for the families of those who perished in the fire. He expressed deep concern regarding the potential negligence of local officials and subsequently announced the suspension of four individuals responsible for oversight at the manufacturing unit. Emphasizing the need for accountability, he assured victims and their families that the government would provide comprehensive support during their difficult time.

Deputy Chief Minister’s Visit

Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan also made an appearance at the Government General Hospital in Kakinada to console the families affected by the explosion. His visit aimed to provide comfort and support to those who lost loved ones in the catastrophic incident. The response from state officials reflects a commitment to addressing the tragedies that have occurred and providing assistance to the victims and their families.
