Tata Power Organises Safety Awareness Campaign In Mumbai
More than 11,560 citizens in Mumbai were sensitised through street plays and door-to-door campaigns in the month of May /June 2014.
Over 11,560 residents in Indira Nagar, Mandala, Mankhurd, were sensitised through ‘Ghar Ghar Me Jan Jagruti Abhiyan’, the door-to-door campaign, and more than 3,030 citizens were sensitised in Wadala, Parel, Dharavai, Mankhurd, Kurla, Malvani, Malad, Laljipada, Kandivali, Ekta Nagar, Bihari Tekdi, Borivli (E), Thembipada, Bhandup, Vikroli and Kanjurmargh, Mumbra, Morarjinagar, Khopoli, and Ambernath, and were imparted education through many street plays.
Speaking on this initiative, Mr. V K Chourey, Head-Transmission, Mumbai Operation, Tata Power, stated, “We at Tata Power give high importance to the safety and wellbeing of all our stakeholders. ‘Jan Jagruti Abhiyan’ aims to educate about the precautions to be observed by Mumbaikars residing in the vicinity of EHV Lines. During this drive we have sensitised over 11,560 citizens and we will continue to spread the safety awareness message to reduce accidents around transmission lines. We are thankful to all the Tata Power employees and volunteers who made this programme a great success.”
Mr. Ashok Sethi, Executive Director, Tata Power, added, “Our campaign has received an overwhelming response and gives us motivation to continue with these awareness drives to spread the safety messages concerning the transmission lines.”
Mr. Kiran Digaovkar, Assistant Commissioner, Mumbai, appreciated Tata Power for their continuous effort to spread awareness amongst Mumbaikars living around the High Tension lines.
Tata Power conducted an awareness session to educate the nearby residents as well as to minimise damage to the property of citizens. Tata Power also conducted a Laser project – ‘Ghar Ghar Mein’ under the Jan Jagruti Abhiyan programme at all locations of Transmission divisions during the Sankranti festival. Jan Jagruti Abhiyaan is aimed at increasing awareness among citizens regarding the hazards of carrying out unauthorised activities in the vicinity of high-tension lines. These sessions include a presentation and a short film on the hazards of unauthorised construction of structures, flying kites, TV cable stringing, drying clothes, etc. in the vicinity of high-tension lines and the dos and don’ts to avoid any related hazards. In addition to this, Tata Power organises a special safety awareness programme (street plays with the help of NGOs) in the vicinity of high-tension lines under its Jan Jagruti Abhiyaan initiative.
