A quiet residential area in Pune’s Wagholi locality was shaken after a woman allegedly attacked her two minor children inside their home, killing her son and leaving her daughter critically injured. The accused has been arrested, and police are now investigating what may have led to the tragic incident.
The incident occurred at a house located on BAIF Road in Wagholi. Police said the woman used a knife during the attack. Her 11-year-old son suffered fatal injuries and died at the scene, while her 13-year-old daughter sustained multiple stab wounds and was rushed to a hospital in a critical condition.
The accused has been identified as Soni Santosh Jaybhay, a native of Kandhar in Nanded district, who had been residing in Wagholi with her family. Her son, Sairaj Santosh Jaybhay, could not be saved, while her daughter, Dhanashree Santosh Jaybhay, survived the assault and remains under medical care.
Police Find Blood-Soaked Home
Police reached the house soon after being alerted and found the premises bearing signs of extreme violence, with bloodstains spread across the room. The woman was immediately taken into custody, and a case has been registered against her.
Officials said the motive behind the attack is still unclear. Investigators are exploring several angles, including possible domestic issues, mental stress, or other personal circumstances. The accused is being questioned to establish the sequence of events leading up to the attack.
The incident has caused shock and distress among local residents. With one child losing his life and another fighting for survival, the case has left the community grappling with the gravity of the tragedy as police continue their probe.
