Mayawati Calls on BSP Cadre to Prepare for 2027 Uttar Pradesh Elections

The CSR Journal Magazine

Mayawati, the president of the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP), has called upon party workers and supporters to strive towards establishing a government in Uttar Pradesh for the fifth time in 2027. She referenced the party’s significant victory in 2007, when a coalition of Dalits, Brahmins, Muslims, and other communities enabled the BSP to achieve a majority in the state assembly. This appeal was made during a post on X on Saturday morning, where she emphasised the importance of unity and collective effort among party members.

In her message, Mayawati urged her cadre to begin preparations for the upcoming assembly elections in both Uttarakhand and Punjab. She highlighted the need for a robust campaign strategy and the selection of strong candidates to ensure the party’s success in these elections. This call to action reflects the BSP’s commitment to regaining political influence in regions where it has faced challenges in recent years.

Concerns Over Media and Misinformation

During her address, Mayawati expressed concerns regarding what she termed “casteist media” and the dissemination of misleading pre-election surveys on social media platforms. She alleged that these surveys were intended to undermine the BSP’s credibility and divert public attention from the party’s preparations and strengths. Mayawati claimed that the party was being portrayed as weaker than it truly is, despite its ongoing efforts to bolster its grassroots campaign.

She appealed to individuals across various communities, especially those aligned with the Bahujan Samaj, to remain vigilant against the propaganda and political tactics employed by rival parties. Mayawati asserted that misinformation could significantly impact the electoral landscape and urged her supporters to counter these narratives effectively.

To reinforce her argument, Mayawati cited the 2007 assembly elections as a pivotal moment when the BSP secured a full majority despite being underestimated by media assessments and political projections. This historical reference serves to motivate her supporters and instil confidence in the party’s potential for success in the upcoming elections.

Strategic Focus on Candidate Selection and Mobilisation

As the BSP gears up for the next round of assembly elections, candidate selection and grassroots mobilisation are expected to be central to its strategy. Mayawati’s remarks come at a crucial time when the party is working to regain political ground in Uttar Pradesh, where it last formed a government in 2007 by winning 206 of the 403 assembly seats.

In her speech, Mayawati also targeted the previous Samajwadi Party (SP) government and the current Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) administration in Uttar Pradesh. She urged the public, particularly those from the Bahujan Samaj, to be cautious of misinformation and the political manoeuvres of opposing parties. This strategic focus aims to galvanise support and reinforce the BSP’s position as a viable alternative in the state’s political landscape.

Mayawati reiterated the BSP’s guiding principle of ‘Sarvajan Hitay, Sarvajan Sukhay’, which she presented as the foundation for an inclusive and welfare-oriented governance model. By invoking this principle, she seeks to appeal to a broad spectrum of voters and emphasise the party’s commitment to the welfare of all communities in Uttar Pradesh.
