Man Undergoes Surgery in Agra to Remove Bottle Stuck in Rectum

The CSR Journal Magazine

A 38-year-old man in Agra underwent surgery after a one-litre plastic bottle was discovered lodged in his rectum. The incident came to light when he experienced severe discomfort for approximately 36 hours, prompting his family to take him to a private healthcare facility. Upon arrival, medical staff conducted an examination that included an X-ray, which revealed the bottle’s presence.

Emergency Surgery Conducted Successfully

Following the diagnosis, the patient was admitted to the emergency unit where a team of surgeons promptly arranged for an operation. The surgical procedure lasted around one hour and ten minutes, during which the medical team successfully removed the object. Senior surgeon Dr. Sunil Sharma noted the complexity of the case, highlighting the need to extract the bottle delicately to prevent damage to the intestine or rectum.

Post-Surgical Care and Recovery

After the operation, the patient remained under medical observation. Additionally, doctors performed a sigmoidoscopy to assess any potential internal injuries or infections. He continued to receive care for about four days before being discharged, as his condition stabilised and he was able to resume normal bowel movements.

Psycho-Sexual Condition Identified

Medical professionals indicated that the patient was experiencing a psycho-sexual condition referred to as anal eroticism. Individuals with this condition may engage in risky behaviours involving their private parts in search of unusual sexual experiences. Experts emphasised that many patients often hesitate to seek medical assistance due to embarrassment, which can lead to severe internal injuries and other complications.

Call for Increased Awareness and Support

Health specialists stress the importance of counselling for individuals facing similar issues. Addressing underlying behavioural concerns is essential for preventing recurrence and ensuring patients receive the help they need. The incident underscores the necessity for conversations surrounding mental health and sexual behaviour, encouraging those affected to seek professional advice without fear of stigma.
