Maharashtra Horror: 7-Year-Old Boy Demands Chicken Dish, Mother Beats him to Death with Rolling Pin

The CSR Journal Magazine

A shocking case has come to light from Dhansar village in Maharashtra’s Palghar district. Here, a 7-year-old boy, Chinmay Ghumde, was allegedly beaten to death by his mother, Pallavi Ghumde. This comes after he asked for a chicken dish. The woman also severely injured her 10-year-old daughter in the same assault. The incident occurred on Sunday at their residence in the Ghordila Complex.

Child Succumbs to Injuries at Home

According to police, Pallavi attacked both children with a rolling pin (belan), causing severe injuries. Despite Chinmay’s critical condition, she did not seek medical help. The boy later died at home due to his injuries. His sister was also struck with the same rolling pin and is currently undergoing treatment at a local hospital. She has since been moved to an ashram in Dahanu for safety and care.

After the boy’s death, Pallavi attempted to conceal the crime by claiming he had died of jaundice. However, a suspicious neighbor visited the house, discovered Chinmay’s body covered with a sheet, and noticed multiple injuries on his chest, back, and face. The neighbor informed police, who arrived promptly and took Pallavi into custody. The rolling pin used in the assault was also recovered from the scene.

Ongoing Investigation

The police have registered a case of murder under Section 103(1) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and other relevant sections. District Superintendent of Police Yatish Deshmukh confirmed that further investigation is underway. Initial reports indicate that Pallavi had been living separately from her husband with her children and two sisters. While the accused admitted to the assault, officials are probing the possibility of other underlying issues.

Statement of Police

“Pallavi Ghumde, 40, lived with her family in a flat in the Kashipada area. Her son, Chinmay Ganesh Ghumde, 7, was brutally beaten with household items and died as a result of the beating. Her 10-year-old daughter was also beaten. A murder case has been registered at the Palghar police station. The Palghar police are conducting further investigations,” said district Superintendent of Police Yatish Deshmukh.

The brutal nature of the crime has shocked the local community. Authorities are conducting a thorough probe to uncover any additional motives behind the violent attack. The exact cause of death will be confirmed after the post-mortem report.
