Jaipur Man, 62, Dies After Speeding Thar Hits Scooter, Drags Him 50 Metres

A 62-year-old man tragically passed away after being struck by a speeding Thar SUV while riding his scooter in Jaipur on the morning of Saturday, August 22, 2026. The vehicle reportedly dragged him approximately 50 metres before eventually crashing into a roadside pole. Following the collision, the driver allegedly fled the scene, leaving the injured man behind.

The deceased, identified as Chhaju Singh, was a resident of Jhalana Doongri in Rajasthan. He was originally from Dausa and worked as a security guard at a local hostel. On the day of the accident, he was en route to Jaipuria Hospital to procure medication for a cough and cold that had been affecting him for two to three days.

Emergency services arrived promptly at the scene. Singh was quickly transported to the trauma centre at SMS Hospital where medical staff endeavoured to treat his serious injuries. Despite their efforts, he succumbed to his injuries later that afternoon at around 2 pm.

The critical injuries Singh sustained included severe trauma to his ribs, indicative of the violent nature of the collision. Eyewitness accounts suggest that the Thar was travelling at a significant speed, contributing to the tragic outcome.

In the aftermath of the incident, Malviya Nagar police seized the abandoned Thar allegedly involved in the collision and initiated a search for the driver who fled immediately after the crash. Law enforcement agencies are actively working to gather evidence, including reviewing CCTV footage from cameras positioned in the vicinity of the accident site.
