The last match of the group stages ended on Sunday with India defeating New Zealand by 44 runs. The match, held in the Dubai International Cricket Stadium, UAE, saw India finishing first within group A. India will now come face-to-face with Australia in the semifinals scheduled for March 4 at the same venue.
“(It is) important to finish on a high….” said Rohit Sharma, the Indian national cricket team captain. Referring to the semifinals, Sharma added, “Australia has a rich history of playing ICC tournaments well, but it is about us and what we want to do well, on that particular day, further adding It will be a great contest, looking forward to that.”
New Zealand, who finished second within group A, will be travelling back to Pakistan to play the 2nd Semi Final against South Africa in Lahore on March 5
