IIM Bangalore is calling on college students from various parts of India to engage in its National Student Case Competition 2026, featuring a total prize pool of Rs 5 lakh. This initiative, organised by the Centre for Digital Public Goods (CDPG) at IIM Bangalore, is being supported by Perfios, an Anumati Account Aggregator. The competition aims to address real-world issues pertaining to India’s Digital Public Infrastructure (DPI).

The competition is designed for students enrolled in recognised bachelor’s or master’s programmes at any college or university in India, regardless of their field of study. IIM Bangalore has emphasised the importance of interdisciplinary collaboration and welcomes participants from engineering, management, public policy, law, economics, design, and social sciences.

Eligibility Criteria and Team Formation

Each team participating in the competition must include five members. Participants can come from full-time or part-time programmes, and there is a strong encouragement for teams to maintain a gender balance. Additionally, the inclusion of students from diverse academic years and disciplines is advocated. It is noteworthy that each student may engage in only one team, ensuring focused participation.

Furthermore, there is no cap on the number of submissions allowed from students of any particular institution. This flexibility provides an opportunity for numerous teams from various colleges to compete, fostering a healthy spirit of competition and innovation across different academic environments.

IIM Bangalore has stressed the importance of collaboration among students from various backgrounds, considering that diverse perspectives will enhance the quality of solutions developed for the challenges in digital public infrastructure.

Key Dates for the Competition

The timeline for the National Student Case Competition is crucial for participants to note. Registrations commenced on August 14, 2026, with a deadline for entry submissions set for September 7, 2026, at 6 pm IST. Following this, the teams that will advance in the competition will be announced on September 15, 2026. The national finals are scheduled to be held on September 30, 2026, at the IIM Bangalore campus, offering a platform for selected teams to showcase their innovative solutions.

This competition not only presents a valuable opportunity for students to devise solutions to pressing digital public infrastructure issues but also allows them to present their concepts to a panel that includes practitioners, policymakers, and academics. Participants will also have the chance to engage with experts attending the CDPG Annual Conclave, enriching their learning experience through direct interaction.

Moreover, all participants in the competition will receive certificates acknowledging their participation, along with merit awards for outstanding performances. This recognition will be beneficial for students as they consider future academic and professional pathways.
