Hapur Suitcase Murder: Woman Raped, Filmed and Killed; Huband & Wife Arrested

The CSR Journal Magazine

In a major breakthrough Hapur police have cracked the mystery behind a woman’s body found stuffed inside a red suitcase in the Pilkhuwa police station area. The case, which initially baffled investigators due to the victim’s unknown identity, has now led to the arrest of a husband and wife accused of rape and murder.

Breakthrough in Investigation

According to Additional Superintendent of Police (ASP) Vineet Bhatnagar, the body was recovered on December 1 from a sugarcane field near the Ghaziabad–Moradabad highway. Despite efforts, the police were initially unable to identify the deceased. Sustained investigation and technical surveillance eventually led officers to Ankit, a resident of Nawada Kalan village under Simbhaoli police station limits, and his wife Kalista, also known as Kali.

Firm Used to Bring Women for Work

Police revealed that Ankit and Kalista ran a firm named Srishti Enterprises. Under the guise of providing employment, they brought women and young girls from Kalista’s native village in Jharkhand and placed them as domestic workers in the Delhi-NCR region. Some of these women were paid salaries for household work.

Crime Against the Victim

The deceased was identified as Sonia, daughter of the late Sukhra Kachuwa, a resident of Simdega district in Jharkhand. During questioning, Ankit confessed that he developed an interest in Sonia and attempted to force himself on her. When Sonia resisted and later threatened to approach the police, the situation escalated.

Murder and Disposal of the Body

On the night of November 28, 2025, Ankit and Kalista allegedly assaulted Sonia with a stick, killing her. To conceal the crime, they placed her body in a suitcase and later dumped it from a moving auto-rickshaw into a sugarcane field along the highway.

Arrests and Recoveries

Police arrested both accused and recovered the weapon used in the murder, three mobile phones, including the victim’s phone, and two cash memo books linked to their firm. The husband and wife have been sent to jail as further investigation continues.
