The first teaser for Mirzapur: The Movie was released on Thursday, offering fans a sneak peek into the beloved crime series as it transitions from streaming platforms to cinema. Fans can expect the return of key characters, including Kaleen Bhaiya, Munna, Guddu, and Golu. The film is set to hit theatres on September 4, promising to deliver the familiar narrative that has captivated audiences over the years.

Shweta Tripathi Reflects on Her Role

In an exclusive interview with India Today, Shweta Tripathi shared her experiences of reprising her role as Golu Gupta. She described returning to the character from Season 1 as one of the more perplexing and demanding aspects of her involvement in the film. Despite the new format, she asserted that the filming process felt no different from that of the three seasons of the web series, stating, “It was not fast-paced. Actually, the filming took as much time as it should have.”

Tripathi noted that the most significant change was revisiting the world from the first season after almost nine years. She expressed her initial struggle with re-engaging in dynamics with characters like Sweety, Bablu, and Guddu, explaining, “I have spent so many years with the emotion of revenge and frustration. Sweety was no more, and Bablu died; all her dreams were snatched away.”

The emotional juxtaposition created a sense of disorientation for the actor when she faced characters that had evolved while she was processing her character’s history. “Day one, I can’t tell you how confusing it was. I didn’t understand. I was confused because in Season 1, Golu was a different girl,” she elaborated, indicating that the transition was not without its challenges. Over time, however, she noted that everything gradually fell into place.

Anticipation for the Film’s Release

Recently, she shared excitement with her co-stars by sending a photo of a cinema screen, highlighting the anticipation around the film’s upcoming screenings. The actor is keen on the communal viewing experience and believes it will be enjoyable to share the moment with fans who have followed the series.

Mirzapur: The Movie features a well-known ensemble cast, including Ali Fazal, Pankaj Tripathi, Jitendra Kumar, Rasika Dugal, and Divyendu Sharma. Their collective presence promises to retain the captivating essence that fans have come to love, while also enticing audiences into a new narrative adventure within the beloved franchise.
