Gautam Adani Visits Mahudi Jain Temple in Gujarat with Family Ahead of Paryushan

The CSR Journal Magazine

Gautam Adani, Chairman of the Adani Group, visited the revered Mahudi Jain Temple in Gandhinagar district, Gujarat, on Thursday. He was accompanied by his wife, Dr Priti Adani, their elder son, Mr Karan Adani, and daughter-in-law, Ms Paridhi Adani.

Mr Adani offered prayers and sought blessings as the Jain community prepares for Paryushan Mahaparva, which begins on September 8. The visit also carried a personal connection to seva, or selfless service, a value that has shaped his contributions to society.

‘Seva Hi Sadhana Hai’ Philosophy

Through the Adani Foundation, the social welfare and development arm of the Adani Group, Mr Adani has supported initiatives spanning education, healthcare, livelihoods, rural development, women’s empowerment and community infrastructure.

His philosophy, “Seva Hi Sadhana Hai” (Selfless service is the highest form of worship), reflects his emphasis on serving communities and creating opportunities aimed at improving lives.

Significance of Mahudi Jain Temple

Mahudi, historically known as Madhupuri, is a prominent Shwetambar Jain pilgrimage centre. The tirth houses temples dedicated to all 24 Jain Tirthankaras, along with a separate shrine dedicated to Shri Ghantakarna Mahavir.

Unlike the Tirthankaras, Ghantakarna Mahavir is worshipped as a protective deity. Devotees turn to him for strength during difficult times and to overcome obstacles.

Visit Comes After US Legal Proceedings

Mr Adani’s temple visit comes days after proceedings by the US Department of Justice involving him, his nephew Mr Sagar Adani, Executive Director of Adani Green Energy Limited (AGEL), and others ended with the indictment being dismissed with prejudice on August 10.

Paryushan Mahaparva to Begin on September 8

Paryushan Mahaparva will be observed from September 8 to 15, 2026, and is among the most important festivals in the Shwetambar Jain tradition. The period is marked by prayer, fasting, self-discipline and introspection.

The festival culminates in Samvatsari on September 15, known as the Festival of Forgiveness. On the occasion, Jains seek forgiveness from all living beings and offer forgiveness to others while reflecting on their actions and letting go of past grievances.

Adani Family’s Earlier Jain Temple Visit

The Mahudi visit follows Mr Adani and Dr Priti Adani’s visit earlier this year to the Shri Ajitnath Bhagwan Shwetamber Jain Derasar at Taranga Hills in North Gujarat, where they offered prayers on Akshaya Tritiya.

At Mahudi, the Adani family came together for prayer, gratitude and reflection, with the visit highlighting themes of faith, humility, compassion, service and forgiveness.
