A deeply disturbing incident has come to light from Uttar Pradesh’s Balrampur district. Here, a 21-year-old specially-abled woman was allegedly kidnapped and brutally raped by bike-borne man. The incident occurred while she was returning home from her maternal uncle’s residence. The incident, which took place on Monday, has raised serious questions about safety and surveillance in even the most high-security areas of the city.

Chilling CCTV Footage Captures Pursuit

According to police reports, the woman was walking home, a distance of barely one kilometre from her location. During which a man on a motorcycle approached her and forcibly made her sit on his bike. CCTV footage from a camera near the residence of a senior police officer shows the woman running along a nearly deserted road. The woman in the video looked visibly panicked and looking back, as she was pursued by several men on three to four motorcycles.

The woman was taken to a secluded location, where she was allegedly raped. Meanwhile the police confirm rape based on medical examination. However, the victim’s family claims she was gang-raped by multiple bike-borne men.

Victim Found Unconscious Near Police Post

According to reports, the family of the victim grew alarmed when she failed to return home and began searching for her. Hours later, she was discovered unconscious in bushes near a police post. The woman was found with her clothes disheveled and in a state of trauma. Upon regaining consciousness, the woman alleged that she was gang-raped by the men who abducted her.

“A specially-abled woman was returning home from her maternal uncle’s house. On the way, she was made to sit by a man on his bike. She was taken to a deserted spot, where she was raped. A medical examination was done. We are monitoring the CCTV footage. We are working swifly to catch the accused,” said Additional Superintendent of Police Vishal Pandey.

The woman is currently stable and undergoing treatment at a local hospital.

Family Alleges Gang-Rape

The horrifying incident took place in a high-security zone, near the official residences of the District Magistrate, Superintendent of Police, and judges, intensifying the outrage. The family has alleged gross negligence, claiming that CCTV cameras near the police post where she was found were either malfunctioning or turned off.

Meanwhile, authorities have launched a manhunt for the accused and assured swift action, but questions over law enforcement accountability continue to mount.
