In a heartwarming display of generosity, a newlywed bride at the famed Guruvayur temple donated her wedding gold and Rs 4.5 lakh to a financially struggling young woman immediately after her marriage ceremony on Wednesday.
Dr. Aishwarya, daughter of Manikuttan and Shari from Vypin, Ernakulam, tied the knot with Shambhu, a native of Alappuzha, in a traditional ceremony at the Guruvayur Sree Krishna Temple. The couple’s wedding, attended by close family and friends, took an unexpected turn when Dr. Aishwarya announced her decision to help a girl from a poor family in Ernakulam whose wedding is scheduled for August 17.
According to sources, Dr. Aishwarya was moved by a social media post shared by the Daya Charitable Trust, Palakkad, which highlighted the plight of the young woman’s family, who were struggling to meet the expenses for her upcoming wedding. Responding to the appeal, Dr. Aishwarya contacted the trust and expressed her wish to donate her wedding gold and a substantial sum of money.
Following the wedding rituals, Dr. Aishwarya’s mother, Shari, handed over a cheque of Rs 4.5 lakh to the beneficiary in the presence of Daya Trust officials. The amount is intended to cover the purchase of five sovereigns of gold, wedding attire, and other essential expenses for the young woman’s marriage.
“This is a gesture of gratitude and compassion. We are blessed to be able to help someone in need on such a special day,” Dr. Aishwarya told reporters after the ceremony. “I hope this inspires others to support those less fortunate, especially during important milestones in life.”
