In a significant move to ensure timely payment of water bills before the end of the financial year. The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has announced an extended working hours system at Citizen Facilitation Centers.
Extended Working Hours for Payment
The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has announced that the Citizen Facilitation Centers will remain operational from 8 AM to 12 AM (midnight) on March 29, 30, and 31, 2025, to allow residents to pay their water bills. This move will accommodate residents who need to pay their water bills.
The extended working hours are specifically for the payment of water bills, as Saturday, March 29, and Sunday, March 30, 2025, are weekend holidays, followed by Monday, March 31, 2025, which is a public holiday due to the observance of Eid al-Fitr. March 31 marks the end of the financial year, making it the last date for bill payments.
Last Date to Avail Abhay Yojana
In order to provide relief to water connection holders, the BMC is implementing the ‘Abhay Yojana,’ a special scheme that offers a waiver on overdue additional charges if the water bill is paid in full.
March 31 is also the last day for residents to avail of the ‘Abhay Yojana,’ a scheme offering a waiver on overdue charges for those who pay their water bills in full.
Reminder for Timely Payment
BMC further reminds all water connection holders that it is mandatory to pay water bills within one month from the date of issue. Failing to do so results in additional charges. However, under the ‘Abhay Yojana,’ these extra charges are being waived for those who settle their overdue bills in one lump sum.
To facilitate easier payments, the Citizen Facilitation Centers will remain open on the weekend holidays (March 29-30) and on the public holiday (March 31) from 8 AM to 12 AM. The municipal authorities encourage residents, including government and semi-government offices, to make the payments before the deadline and benefit from the ‘Abhay Yojana.’
