Mumbai Police team Reaches Comedian Kunal Kamra’s Dadar Residence

A Mumbai Police team reportedly reached comedian Kunal Kamra’s residence in Dadar on Monday in connection with the case related to the ongoing controvery surrounding his jibe at Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde.
Three separate cases have been filed against the stand-up comedian at Khar police station, with one complaint lodged by the Mayor of Jalgaon city and the other two by a hotelier and a businessman from Nashik, as revealed by Mumbai Police.
On March 27, the Mumbai police summoned the comedian to appear on March 31 at the Khar Police Station for questioning in the case. This was the third summon issued to Kamra after he failed to appear before the police in the first two summons.

Kamra will get ‘Shiv Sena-style welcome’ upon return to Mumbai: Rahul Kanal

Meanwhile, Shiv Sena’s Yuva Sena (Shinde faction) General Secretary Rahul Kanal has issued a strong statement regarding the stand-up comedian saying that he will receive a “Shiv Sena-style” welcome upon his return to Mumbai from Tamil Nadu.
Kamra was granted anticipatory bail by the Madras high court until April 7 after multiple FIRs were filed against him over his satirical video targeting Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde. Kamra had moved the Madras High Court seeking transit anticipatory bail, saying that he has been receiving death threats following the controversy.

Kamra’s “traitor” jibe at Eknath Shinde

Kamra, known for his satirical style of comedy, was recently performing at a stand-up show at the Unicontinental Hotel in Mumbai’s Khar area, where he mocked Shinde’s defection from the Shiv Sena and his alliance with the BJP by allegedly calling him a “gaddar” (traitor) in an indirect manner. The jokes, which included a parody of a song from the Bollywood movie “Dil To Pagal Hai”, were aimed at Shinde, even though Kamra did not mention him by name. His performance quickly gained attention on social media, following which it triggered a series of protests and even violence.

Kunal Kamra refuses to apologise

Refusing to apologise for his act, the comedian recently issued a statement on social media where he wrote, “I will not apologise. What I said is exactly what Mr. Ajit Pawar (1st Deputy CM) said about Mr. Eknath Shinde (2nd Deputy CM). I don’t fear this mob and I will not be hiding under my bed, waiting for this to die down.”
Highlighting the importance of freedom of speech in India, Kunal Kamra further mentioned in his statement, “Our right to freedom of speech and expression is not only to be used to fawn over the powerful and rich even though today’s media would have us believe otherwise. Your inability to take a joke at the expense of a powerful public figure does not change the nature of my right. As far as I know, it is not against the law to poke fun at our leaders and the circus that is our political system.”

After hundred years, West Bengal government is doing new cadastral or mouza map. According to government, character of muozas changed within these hundred years. Accordingly, survey is conducting every corner of the state and then, mouza’s map will be corrected.

When was the last mouza map made?

According State land department sources, last time cadastral map was made in 1925. After that, government never did cadastral map survey. West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee broke her mum on protest during her speech Oxford University. After returning Kolkata from London, this is the first time she opened up on the issue. However she did not mention anyone’s name. During her speech at Kolkata’s Red Road on Monday she only said, “I was asked, are you a Hindu? I said, I am a Hindu, I am a Muslim, I am a Sikh, Isai, I am India first. What can you do?”

What happened at Oxford?

During her speech at the Oxford University, Banerjee had to face some protest from the students. They questioned Banerjee on issues like RG Kar rape and murder case, Singur and recent Jadavpur University issue where West Bengal Education minister Bratya Basu’s convoy allegedly ran over a student.
Some audiences were seen to show protest with placards and also questioned on her stance in communal issues. Banerjee said on RG Kar issue, “Do you know that this case is pending? The responsibility of investigating this case is now in the hands of the Central government, the case is no longer in our hands.” She further added, “Don’t disrespect your institution by insulting me. I have come here as a representative of the country. Don’t insult your country.”

Will greet onNavratri as well: CM

She said, she greeted on Eid, she will also greet on Navratri as well. She said, “We are secular. Navratri is going on. I extend my best wishes for that as well, but we do not want anyone to create chaos…Common people do not create chaos, but political parties do that. This is a matter of shame. We are ready to sacrifice our lives for all religions…The duty of the majority is to protect the minority, and the duty of the minority is to stay with the majority…”
She said that, she came early from Britain because of Eid. “I can be there for another two days. But I know, I will have to present here. So, I returned early.”

As heat waves intensify, animals need help with respite too

Lalitpur: Dogs Attack Deceased Newborn’s Head at Medical College
Mumbai, India: As India faces intensifying heat waves, with record-breaking temperatures exceeding 45°C in March itself, animal protection organization Humane World for Animals India (formerly called Humane Society International India) urges citizens to prioritize their well-being while also showing compassion and taking necessary actions to protect animals and birds during these extreme conditions. The prolonged heat waves, aggravated by climate change, pose a grave threat to both humans and animals – from heat stress and dehydration to even fatalities.
Heat waves endangers animals of all kinds, from companion animals like dogs, cats, and birds to farm animals such as cows, goats and poultry. They face risks like heatstroke, burns from hot surfaces, overcrowding and inadequate shelter or water, which can lead to death.
Dalia Jacob, senior manager of the community engagement team at Humane World for Animals says: “Every small action counts in saving lives. In many cases, the difference between life and death is the simple act of providing shade and water. Heat waves are not just a human crisis – they’re an animal welfare crisis too. We’re collaborating with community members and volunteers to ensure that street dogs have access to clean drinking water. Additionally, we’ve set up water tubs in certain housing societies to help maintain animal’s body temperature during extreme heat.”
Praveen Suresh, manager of disaster preparedness and relief team at Humane World for Animals India says: “With heat waves affecting millions of people, the impact on animals—both companion and farmed—remains a largely overlooked crisis. According to reports, these heat waves are expected to intensify, putting both urban and rural animal populations at risk. In an agrarian country like India, where the majority of the rural population relies on both agriculture and livestock for their livelihood, the loss of animals due to heat stress poses a severe challenge. Additionally, the scarcity of feed often forces farmers to destock, further impacting their economic stability.”

Do’s and don’ts to care for animals during a heat wave:

Do’s:

Provide access to shade/makeshift shelter to help animals stay cool in hot weather.
Always check under your car before driving, many animals use them to find shade on hot days.
Place water bowls for animals and birds in multiple areas and ensure a constant supply of fresh water. Check them regularly to ensure they are full and free from contamination.
Adjust feeding times of community animals to early morning or late evening when it’s cooler.
Watch for heat exhaustion signs like panting, drooling or lethargy. Move animals to a cooler place and offer water. If needed, douse them in cool (not cold) water to help lower their temperature.

Don’ts:

Never leave animals in hot cars; it can quickly lead to heatstroke and even death.
Prevent animals from walking on hot pavement, as it can burn their paws. Stick to grass or shaded areas.
Avoid over-exercising animals during hot weather to prevent heat exhaustion and dehydration.
Don’t leave animals outside without shade and water.
If you have pets, avoid letting them go out during the hot hours of the day and avoid tying them up outside.
Avoid feeding animals food that can ferment quickly, as it may increase heat generation in their stomach.

Facts:

Heat wave is a condition of high atmospheric temperature that leads to physiological stress, which sometimes can be fatal. The temperature of any place, if it continues to be more than 45° C consecutively for two days, is then called a heat wave condition.
2024 was the warmest year in India since 1901, with severe heat waves affecting multiple regions.
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) recorded 536 heat wave days, the highest in 14 years. Northwest India experienced its hottest June on record.
