Ram Charan, the well-known Tollywood actor, has recently opened up about his parenting approach, labelling himself as a ‘rough dad’. He also highlighted the supportive role played by his wife, Upasana Kamineni, whom he referred to as the ‘nurturing pole’ of their family. This couple, married since 2012, parent three children: their newborn daughter Klin Kaara Konidela, born in 2023, along with their twins, a son named Shivram Konidela and a daughter named Anveera Devi Konidela, who were born earlier this year.

Ram Charan on the Transformation Through Fatherhood

In a revealing interview with Esquire, Ram Charan shared his experiences regarding how fatherhood has reshaped his outlook on life. He remarked on his role as the more adventurous parent, allowing his children the freedom to explore and take risks. “I’m the rough kind of dad,” he stated. He believes that his kids tend to seek him out for encouragement while they turn to their mother for emotional support.

Reflecting on the learning opportunities parenthood provides, Charan stated, “The biggest lesson we learn is from observing our parents.” He expressed a commitment to being an engaged and present father, recognising the significance of quality time with his children. “It’s not about having time; it’s about how well you are using your time. That has become the most important thing for me,” he noted.

Charan acknowledged the shift in his priorities since becoming a parent, describing his life prior to fatherhood as considerably less structured. “I didn’t have three kids before. Everything used to revolve around my work hours and shooting schedules; now everything has to hold meaning,” he elaborated.

Balancing Family Responsibilities with a Busy Career

Ram Charan shared his commitment to ensuring he is fully present for his family upon returning home from work. “I have to give my hundred per cent. The minute I come home, I should not act lazy,” he explained. He stressed the importance of being an active participant in family life, addressing various needs ranging from his children’s activities to his wife’s requirements and even his fans’ expectations.

With a busy schedule as a prominent actor, Charan admitted the challenge of juggling his professional commitments while being a hands-on parent. He expressed that it is essential for him to be mentally and physically present for his family, stating, “So I have to not be foggy and be hundred per cent present, every day.” This level of commitment reflects not only his dedication to his family but also to his craft.

On the professional front, Ram Charan is preparing for the release of his forthcoming film, Peddi, which is directed by Buchi Babu Sana. The film features actress Janhvi Kapoor as the female lead, accompanied by cast members such as Shiva Rajkumar, Jagapathi Babu, and Divyenndu.
