Controversy has erupted around Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan ever since his team, Kolkata Knight Riders, acquired Bangladeshi pacer Mustafizur Rahman in the mini-auction. The owner of the Kolkata Knight Riders has also been tagged a “traitor.” Now, Meera Rathore, the Agra District President of the All India Hindu Mahasabha, has said that his tongue should be chopped off! She has also announced a reward of Rs 1 Lakh for anyone who can bring her his tongue!
She said, “Our Hindu brothers have been burned to death in Bangladesh, and this man is buying them (Bangladeshi players).” Referring to Shah Rukh Khan’s picture, she further said, “Today, I smeared his face with ink and beat him with shoes. We will not spare anyone if this happens to our brothers. What is happening to our brothers is unjust. We offer a cash reward of Rs 1 Lakh to anyone who cuts off his tongue and brings it to us.”
Shah Rukh Khan tagged as a “traitor”
Meera is not the first to make derogatory remarks about Shah Rukh Khan. Earlier, spiritual leader Devakinandan Thakur and BJP leader Sangeet Som had also criticised the actor. Som even called him a traitor. However, the BJP and other prominent political figures have not yet officially reacted to these comments.
Former Uttar Pradesh MLA Sangeet Som has directly labelled SRK a “traitor.” Speaking at a public meeting in Meerut, Som said, “On one hand, Hindus are being killed in Bangladesh, and on the other hand, cricketers are being bought in the IPL. The traitor film actor Shah Rukh Khan has bought a Bangladeshi cricketer (Mustafizur Rahman) for Rs 9 crores. Such traitors have no right to live in this country.”
He further added, “The people of this country have helped you reach this position. If you earn money, you earn it from this country. But you have betrayed the country.”
Shiv Sena (UBT) criticises Shah Rukh Khan
Uddhav Thackeray’s Shiv Sena (UBT) has also spoken out against him. Anand Dubey, spokesperson for Uddhav’s Shiv Sena (UBT), has said in a statement that there would be no problem if the actor dropped the player from his team, and Shah Rukh’s reputation would not be harmed.
Dubey said, “If Shah Rukh Khan drops that cricketer, he will certainly receive the respect he deserves. But the money that cricketer earns by playing in this country will be used to create terrorists in that country, who will then conspire against India. We will not accept that under any circumstances.”
Shah Rukh Khan bought Mustafizur Rahman for Rs 9.2 crores
Incidentally, this year, the Knight Riders acquired one of Bangladesh’s best pacers for a record price of Rs 9.2 crore. But the situation has changed after the IPL auction. In Bangladesh, minorities are suffering from insecurity due to the aggression of fundamentalists and violence in the name of religion. A section of cricket fans is angered by this.
Question being raised on role of BCCI
In this situation, questions are being raised about the role of the BCCI. Will the board allow the star pacer to play in the IPL, considering the current situation? The board has not officially commented on this. However, a source who wished to remain anonymous, said, “The board will not interfere in this issue in any way. Because the matter is not in the board’s hands. The government has not issued any directive that Bangladeshis cannot play in the IPL. So, it is not possible for the board to say anything more about this right now.”
