RPF rescues 12 people, including eight minors, across Northeast Frontier Railway zone

The CSR Journal Magazine

The Railway Protection Force (RPF) under the Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) rescued 12 people, including eight minors, during a series of operations conducted across several railway stations and trains over the past five days, officials said.

According to an official statement, the rescue drives—carried out till January 28—were part of routine surveillance measures and follow-up action on complaints received through the RailMadad platform. RPF personnel identified vulnerable passengers travelling alone or found in distressed conditions and ensured their safe recovery.

Rescues reported from key stations; minors sent for rehabilitation

The rescued individuals included runaway boys and girls, destitute children and unattended passengers found at various locations within the NFR jurisdiction. Major rescue operations were conducted at stations such as Falakata, Lumding, Kishanganj, Rangiya, New Bongaigaon, Kamakhya, Katihar (East) and Guwahati.

All rescued minors were handed over to Child Line units and recognised child care organisations for rehabilitation and further assistance. The adult individuals were produced before the respective local police authorities for necessary legal action.

The Northeast Frontier Railway has urged passengers to remain vigilant and immediately report unattended minors or any suspicious situations to RPF personnel or through the RailMadad platform to facilitate timely intervention.
