On Thursday, Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta inaugurated a significant health check-up camp at Haiderpur, part of the government’s ‘Seva Sankalp Abhiyan’ initiative. The event aimed to provide essential health services to local residents, emphasising the government’s commitment to improving public health in the area. Gupta highlighted the importance of accessible healthcare as a fundamental right for all citizens.

Housing Developments For Slum Residents

During her address at the health camp, Gupta engaged with residents of nearby slums, assuring them that no informal settlements, referred to as ‘jhuggis’, would be demolished. The Chief Minister affirmed that the government is making concerted efforts to enhance living conditions for people who have faced hardships for an extended period. She revealed that the tender process for the first phase of housing construction in the AU Block and AO Block of Haiderpur has already commenced.

Gupta stated that suitable sites are currently being identified for constructing new housing in proximity to these blocks, thereby ensuring that residents have access to better living environments. She also talked about future plans, indicating that in the second phase, ‘jhuggis’ near the Ayurvedic Hospital would also be included in the housing project, with the intention of offering residents more appropriate accommodation.

Furthermore, Gupta elaborated on the long-standing requirement for educational infrastructure in Haiderpur, announcing plans for a new school that will cater to students up to Class 12. She mentioned that approximately 5,000 square yards of land has been secured for the school’s construction, reflecting the government’s commitment to enhancing educational facilities in the region.

Additional Community Initiatives Outlined

In addition to housing and education, Gupta announced several civic projects aimed at improving the overall quality of life for Haiderpur residents. She mentioned that a tender has been issued for a new community centre, which is expected to serve as a vital resource for local residents, facilitating various community activities and services.

Another significant development is the proposed establishment of an Ayushman Arogya Mandir health centre in the locality, aiming to provide a range of health services to the community. Gupta outlined the vision for a ‘Nirog Dham’, which will focus on delivering healthcare that incorporates both Ayurvedic and allopathic practices, thus offering a holistic approach to health and wellness.

Overall, the health camp served as a platform for Gupta to announce several initiatives regarding health, housing, and civic development for Haiderpur. By engaging directly with the residents, she sought to assure them of ongoing governmental support while reiterating the commitment to not displace slum populations in the area.
