Raxaul, Bihar: Amid controversy on Supreme Court’s ruling on relocating stray dogs of Delhi-NCR to shelters, a shocking incident of animal cruelty has come to light from Bihar’s Raxaul railway station. Passengers of train number 55578 en route to Samastipur faced delay on August 16 after the train had to be kept waiting due to an abandoned pet dog for over an hour.
Witnesses at the spot said that the animal was deliberately left behind by a person who boarded the train and later abandoned it. The animal, visibly distressed and frightened, barked continuously and tried to bite anyone who approached. An unknown person had left this dog tied inside the train coach, which created panic among the passengers.
A video of the helpless animal has gone viral on social media. Netizens expressed concern for the abandoned animal and appealed for support, while slamming the owner.

The matter started when the train was ready to leave. Passengers saw that a dog was tied to the seat inside a coach. Railway staff attempted to rescue the abandoned pet but failed
Railway employees made several attempts to get the dog off the train, but the dog was scared and aggressive and hence no one could go near it. This went on for a few hours and the train had to be kept waiting, which led to impatience among passengers who were getting late. The train, scheduled to depart at 6.50 am, got delayed by more than an hour from its scheduled time. Passengers had to be shifted to other compartments, causing inconvenience and further delays. The train finally departed Raxaul at 8.10 am, about 80 minutes behind schedule.
Coach sealed, train departs
When no solution worked, the railway officials took a unique decision. They let the dog stay in the same coach, sealed the coach and let the train depart. This incident not only caused great inconvenience to the passengers, but it also raised a big question on humanity. This incident is also going viral on social media, where people are strongly condemning the cruel owner and demanding strict action against him.
Dog rescued by RPF at Darbhanga station
When the train reached Darbhanga station, the Railway Protection Force (RPF) took custody of the animal. The dog was then reportedly handed over to the Animal Welfare Board to ensure it received proper care and rehabilitation.
The railway administration has also started investigating this matter. An inquiry has been launched to identify and take action against the person responsible for abandoning the pet.
This incident comes at a time when animal lovers across the country are already protesting against the recent Supreme Court verdict directing the removal of stray dogs from Delhi-NCR.
