To lend support to the relief efforts of the government and civil society in the fight against the coronavirus pandemic, Kotak Mahindra Life Insurance Company Limited (Kotak Life), announced that it will support free meal distribution to slum dwellers, migrant labourers, daily wagers, along with the municipal and hospital staff impacted by the lockdown in Mumbai.
Under Kotak Life’s COVID-19 relief intervention, Annamrita Foundation will cook and distribute meals over the next few weeks to thousands of poor and needy people identified by various NGOs in consultation with the local government. Each meal, with a combination of proteins and carbohydrates, will help in meeting the daily nutritional requirements of the beneficiaries.
Murlidhar, Managing Director, Kotak Mahindra Life Insurance Company Ltd. said, “People employed in the informal sector are struggling today owing to the Coronavirus outbreak and the ensuing lockdown. Daily wage labourers, poor people and the homeless are unable to sustain themselves. Annamrita Foundation is helping Kotak Life to reach out to thousands of poor and needy people by helping us provide daily nourishing meals in and around Mumbai.”
