The CSR Journal Magazine

Recent Iranian missile strikes on the United Arab Emirates have resulted in three fatalities and injuries to 58 individuals, including one Indian national, according to officials. This information was confirmed on Sunday following a series of retaliatory attacks by Iran in response to the death of its Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, in a coordinated airstrike by US and Israeli forces.

Indian Embassy Takes Action

The Indian Embassy in the UAE has acknowledged the injury of the Indian citizen and is actively coordinating with local hospital authorities. A statement from the embassy confirmed that the Indian national is currently out of danger and that the embassy is providing all necessary assistance.

Diverse Affected Nationalities

A comprehensive list released by local authorities indicates that among the injured are nationals from various countries, including Pakistan, Nepal, and Bangladesh, alongside a mix of expatriates from the UAE, Egypt, Ethiopia, the Philippines, Iran, Sri Lanka, Azerbaijan, Yemen, Uganda, Eritrea, Lebanon, and Afghanistan. This underscores the wide-ranging impact of the attacks across diverse communities residing in the UAE.

Defensive Measures by UAE

The UAE’s Ministry of Defence reported significant defensive actions, stating that 165 ballistic missiles were intercepted, with 152 successfully destroyed and 13 falling into the sea. Additionally, two cruise missiles and a total of 541 drones were targeted, resulting in the destruction of 506 drones, highlighting the scale of military engagement in the region.

US Advisory for Citizens in UAE

In light of the ongoing situation, the US Embassy in Abu Dhabi and the Consulate in Dubai have issued guidelines advising American citizens to shelter in place. Individuals in the UAE have been encouraged to comply with this directive until further notice, with additional information to be provided as circumstances evolve.

Iran’s Response to Supreme Leader’s Death

The recent strikes by Iran appear to be a direct response to the assassination of Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, which has escalated tensions in the region. Following the confirmed death of Khamenei, reports indicate that Iran has initiated missile attacks targeting not only Israel but also its Gulf Arab neighbors.
