India Post Partners with SBI Mutual Fund to simplify KYC Verification Services for Investors

In an initiative aimed to simplify the customer on-boarding process for mutual fund investors, the Department of Posts has entered into a strategic partnership with SBI Funds Management Limited (SBIFM), a prominent asset management company.

A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed as per which India Post’s extensive network will be used to provide doorstep KYC verification services for investors of SBI Mutual Fund.

The MoU was officially signed between the Ms. Manisha Bansal Badal, General Manager, Business Development Directorate, Department of Posts, and Sh. Munish Sabharwal, Senior Vice President, SBI Funds Management Limited, in a ceremony held at Dak Bhawan, New Delhi.

 

Benefits of the collaboration

This initiative aims to streamline the KYC process, ensuring convenience, security, and regulatory compliance for investors across India.

With India Post’s vast network across the interiors of India, this partnership is aimed to ease the KYC process and provide a gateway for individuals, particularly in rural and semi-urban areas, to engage with investment products such as mutual funds.

 

Door-to-door KYC service for investors

The door-to-door KYC service will offer immense convenience to investors, allowing them to complete the entire process from the comfort of their homes. This is particularly advantageous for senior citizens, individuals with mobility challenges, or those living in remote areas, where access to physical banking services is limited.

By offering KYC services at the doorstep, the initiative also plays a crucial role in educating the masses about the importance of compliance with financial regulations.

 

India Post to facilitate KYC formalities for SBI Mutual Fund investors

India Post, with its vast network of over 1.64 lakh post offices spread across even the remotest corners of the country, is uniquely positioned to support initiatives aimed at financial inclusion. With post offices in urban areas, rural towns, remote villages, and even areas with limited access to other financial services, the Department of Posts has the unparalleled reach to assist with customer service requirements, including KYC verification.

As part of the MoU, India Post will facilitate the completion of KYC formalities for SBI Mutual Fund investors by collecting the necessary forms and documents from investors across the country. The KYC documents will be collected by India Post’s trained personnel, ensuring a high level of security, accuracy, and privacy in the process.

By using India Post’s nationwide network, this partnership will ensure that investors, regardless of their location, can easily complete the KYC process. This will be particularly beneficial for investors in rural, underserved, and far-flung areas who often face challenges in accessing traditional financial services.

 

Collaboration supports Government of India’s Jan Nivesh initiative

This collaboration supports the Government of India’s Jan Nivesh initiative, which aims to increase financial inclusion and encourage more people to participate in India’s capital markets. It also contributes to the ongoing efforts to digitise financial services under the Digital India programme.

 

India Post’s collaboration with other mutual fund companies

India Post’s role in facilitating KYC verifications has been demonstrated through its successful collaboration with other mutual fund companies, including UTI Mutual Fund and SUUTI (Securities and Exchange Board of India’s public fund). In these partnerships, India Post successfully handled over 5 lakh KYC verifications in a short period, showcasing its ability to manage high-volume operations with precision, security, and efficiency.

India Post is actively exploring new avenues for collaboration with both public and private sector organizations in the financial services sector. With its strong infrastructure, trained workforce, and credibility, India Post is well-positioned to play a larger role in promoting financial literacy, digital on-boarding, and investment participation among the Indian populace.

Adani Group Yoga Instructor Smita Kumari Sets Another Record

Smita Kumari, an in-house yoga instructor at the Adani Group, has once again etched her name into the Guinness World Records. She achieved a second world record with a display of exceptional endurance, discipline, and resilience. She has done it yet again. The woman who personifies determination, resilience, and the spirit of Adanian philosophy: “Hum Karke Dikhate Hain”.

Smita began her world record journey in 2022 with an astonishing feat in yoga. Her first monumental achievement came when she held the Centre Split pose (Samakonasana) for an astounding 3 hours, 10 minutes and 12 seconds. This feat earned her a Guinness World Records (GWR) title, marking her entry into the annals of history.

Unwilling to stop at just one milestone, Smita set her sights on an even more challenging pose. Yet, Smita was not one to rest on her laurels. Driven by an insatiable quest for excellence, she set her sights on a new challenge.

On February 17, 2025, at the Belvedere Club in Adani Shantigram, Ahmedabad, she once again defied the limits of human endurance and flexibility. This time, she chose the Bhunamanasana (Upavishta Konasana, उपविष्ट कोणासन), also known as the Greeting the Earth pose, one of the toughest yoga postures, known for its demanding nature that tests even the most experienced practitioners.

This posture, known for its intense difficulty, pushes even seasoned yoga practitioners to their limits. Maintaining it for more than two hours is a feat virtually unheard of, yet Smita achieved it through years of disciplined practice and unwavering resolve.

Symbol of the Adani Ethos

Smita had held the Bhunamanasana or ‘Greeting the Earth’ for an incredible 2 hours, 33 minutes and 37 seconds. With her second Guinness record, she proved that her strength lies not only in her physical capabilities but also unshakeable determination.

Yoga experts have long hailed the ‘Greeting the Earth’ pose as exceptionally challenging to maintain even for a few minutes. Smita’s achievement is a testament to her dedication and the rigorous training she underwent.

Through her journey, Smita has inspired countless individuals, proving that with dedication, the impossible can become possible. Her story is a shining example of how passion, hard work and an unyielding spirit can lead to extraordinary accomplishments.

इससे पहले वर्ष 2022 में, उन्होंने समकोणासन (Centre Split Pose) को 3 घंटे 10 मिनट 12 सेकंड तक बनाकर पहला रिकॉर्ड स्थापित किया था। यह आसन शारीरिक लचीलापन, मानसिक एकाग्रता और अपार धैर्य की मांग करता है। कुछ मिनट तक इसे बनाए रखना भी आम लोगों के लिए कठिन होता है, लेकिन स्मिता ने तीन घंटे से ज्यादा समय तक इसे निभाकर योग की दुनिया में इतिहास रच दिया।

इन दोनों रिकॉर्ड्स के पीछे छह महीने की कठोर साधना, संयमित जीवन शैली और मानसिक अनुशासन है। स्मिता बताती हैं, “हर दिन सुबह जल्दी उठकर अभ्यास शुरू करती थी। शरीर को थोड़ा और खींचना, सहनशक्ति को बढ़ाना और दर्द को हिम्मत से सहना – यही मेरी दिनचर्या थी।” इस पूरे सफर में उनका मार्गदर्शन अदाणी समूह के वरिष्ठ योग प्रशिक्षक सागर सोनी और कॉर्पोरेट हेल्थकेयर टीम ने किया। उन्होंने न केवल तकनीकी योग प्रशिक्षण दिया, बल्कि मानसिक दृढ़ता बनाए रखने में भी बड़ी भूमिका निभाई।

गौतम अदाणी ने किया सम्मानित

अद्भुत प्रदर्शन के बाद, अदाणी समूह के चेयरमैन गौतम अदाणी (Gautam Adani) ने उन्हें गिनीज वर्ल्ड रिकॉर्ड प्रमाणपत्र देकर सम्मानित किया। उन्होंने कहा, “स्मिता न केवल अदाणी परिवार का गौरव हैं, बल्कि पूरे भारत के लिए प्रेरणास्रोत हैं। उनकी साधना बताती है कि असंभव कुछ भी नहीं।”

युवाओं के लिए प्रेरणा हैं स्मिता

स्मिता कुमारी की यह उपलब्धि सिर्फ एक रिकॉर्ड नहीं है, यह उस आत्मबल, साहस और तप का प्रमाण है, जिसे आज की युवा पीढ़ी अपनाकर खुद को मानसिक और शारीरिक रूप से सशक्त बना सकती है। वो कहती हैं, “Yoga is not just flexibility, it’s responsibility towards your inner self.” उनके लिए योग एक अनुशासन है, एक साधना है, और जीवन जीने की कला है। स्मिता कुमारी की यह कहानी सिर्फ रिकॉर्ड तोड़ने की नहीं है, यह एक प्रेरणादायक यात्रा है। उस महिला की जिसने साधना, समर्पण और आत्मबल से अपनी सीमाएं खुद लांघीं। उन्होंने साबित कर दिया कि जब इरादा पक्का हो, तो शरीर भी आत्मा का साथ देने लगता है।

पाकिस्तान के मंत्री अताउल्लाह तरार का दावा, 24-36 घंटे में भारत करेगा हमला

Pahalgam Attack: पाकिस्तान ने दावा किया है कि उसके पास ‘विश्वसनीय खुफिया जानकारी’ है कि भारत अगले 24-36 घंटों में उसके खिलाफ सैन्य कार्रवाई की योजना बना रहा है। पाकिस्तान के सूचना मंत्री अताउल्लाह तरार ने यह बयान दिया। पहलगाम हमले के बाद भारत और पाकिस्तान के रिश्तों में बढ़े तनाव और टकराव की आशंका के बीच दुनिया के कई देशों ने संयम बरतने की अपील की है।
सोमवार को चीन, अमेरिका, तुर्की और क़तर ने उम्मीद जताई कि भारत और पाकिस्तान तनाव कम करेंगे। हालांकि, पिछले कई दिनों से दोनों देशों की सेनाओं के बीच नियंत्रण रेखा (LOC) पर फ़ायरिंग भी हुई है। इन सबके बीच ये सवाल उठ रहा है कि क्या भारत और पाकिस्तान युद्ध के मुहाने पर खड़े हैं और क्या भारत अगले कुछ दिनों में पाकिस्तान पर किसी तरह की कार्रवाई कर सकता है? ऐसे ही संकेत पहले पाकिस्तान के रक्षा मंत्री ख़्वाजा आसिफ़ ने अपने ताज़ा बयानों में दिए हैं। इसके बाद बुधवार तड़के पाकिस्तान के सूचना मंत्री अताउल्लाह तरार ने एक बयान जारी कर कहा कि भारत पाकिस्तान पर अगले 24 से 36 घंटे में हमला कर सकता है।
भारत के संभावित हमले के बारे में बयान बुधवार तड़के आया है। भारतीय समयानुसार सुबह 3:09 बजे तरार ने अपने X अकाउंट पर एक वीडियो डाला और उसके उर्दू में भी एक पोस्ट डाली।

पाकिस्तान को भारत के हमले का डर

पाकिस्तान के रक्षा मंत्री ख़्वाजा आसिफ़ ने कहा है कि भारत की तरफ़ से ‘तुरंत कार्रवाई हो सकती है।’ सोमवार को समाचार एजेंसी को दिए एक इंटरव्यू में ख़्वाजा आसिफ़ ने कहा, “हमने अपनी सेनाओं की तैनाती बढ़ाई है, क्योंकि कुछ ऐसा है जो अब तुरंत हो सकता है। इस स्थिति में कुछ रणनीतिक निर्णय लिए जाने हैं और वो निर्णय ले लिए गए हैं।’ ख़्वाजा आसिफ़ ने ये भी कहा कि पाकिस्तान की सेना ने सरकार को भारत की तरफ़ से हमले को लेकर आगाह किया है। इस साक्षात्कार में ख़्वाजा आसिफ़ ने ये भी कहा कि अगर पाकिस्तान के अस्तित्व पर सीधे ख़तरा होगा, तो सिर्फ़ उस स्थिति में ही पाकिस्तान परमाणु हथियारों का इस्तेमाल करेगा।
ख़्वाजा आसिफ़ ने अपने बयान में रणनीतिक निर्णय लिए जाने की बात कही है। इसका संकेत ये है कि पाकिस्तान LOC पर सैन्य मौजूदगी बढ़ा रहा है। हालांकि इस साक्षात्कार के बाद ख़्वाजा आसिफ़ ने कहा कि अगले दो-चार दिनों में संभावित युद्ध को लेकर उनके बयान को ग़लत समझा गया है। ख़्वाजा आसिफ़ ने पाकिस्तानी टीवी चैनल से बात करते हुए कहा, “हमें मानसिक रूप से तैयार रहना चाहिए। युद्ध की आशंका मंडरा रही है। इसकी संभावना है कि अगले दो-तीन या चार दिन में हम युद्ध में हो सकते हैं।”  बाद में उन्होंने कहा, “मुझसे पूछा गया था कि युद्ध की संभावना कितनी है, तो मैंने कहा था कि अगले दो-तीन दिन महत्वपूर्ण हैं। अगर कुछ होना होगा तो अगले दो-तीन दिनों में हो जाएगा।” ख़्वाजा आसिफ़ ने कहा कि उनके बयान को इस बात की भविष्यवाणी ना समझा जाए कि युद्ध होने वाला है, बल्कि उनका मतलब ये है कि अगले दो-तीन दिन महत्वपूर्ण हैं। पाकिस्तान के रक्षा मंत्री ने ये भी बताया कि पाकिस्तान ने दोस्ताना देशों से हालात को टालने के लिए संपर्क किया है। उन्होंने कहा कि पाकिस्तान ने खाड़ी के देशों और चीन से बात की है, साथ ही ब्रिटेन और अमेरिका समेत अन्य देशों को भी हालात से वाकिफ़ कराया है। ख़्वाजा आसिफ़ के बाद बुधवार सुबह तीन बजे पाकिस्तान के सूचना मंत्री अताउल्लाह तरार ने X पर पोस्ट डाला। अपने बयान में तरार ने लिखा, “पाकिस्तान के पास विश्वसनीय ख़ुफ़िया जानकारी है कि भारत पहलगाम की घटना को बहाना बना कर अगले 24 से 36 घंटों के बीच फ़ौजी कार्रवाई का इरादा रखता है। किसी भी क़िस्म के हमले का निर्णायक जवाब दिया जाएगा। क्षेत्र में संभावित विनाशकारी परिणामों की ज़िम्मेदारी भारत पर होगी।”
22 अप्रैल को जम्मू-कश्मीर के पहलगाम की बैसरन घाटी में पर्यटकों पर हुए हमले में एक स्थानीय कश्मीरी समेत 26 लोगों की मौत हुई थी।
भारत ने इस हमले के बाद पाकिस्तान के ख़िलाफ़ कई क़दम उठाने की घोषणा की थी। इनमें सिंधु जल समझौता निलंबित करना और पाकिस्तानी नागरिकों के वीज़ा रद्द करना शामिल हैं। इसकी प्रतिक्रिया में पाकिस्तान ने भी भारतीय नागरिकों के वीज़ा रद्द कर दिए और शिमला समझौते को निलंबित कर दिया। पाकिस्तान के प्रधानमंत्री शहबाज़ शरीफ़ के कार्यालय की तरफ़ से जारी बयान में कहा गया था कि अगर भारत सिंधु नदी का पानी रोकता है, तो पाकिस्तान इसे ‘युद्ध की कार्रवाई’ मानेगा। इस हमले के बाद दिए पहले सार्वजनिक बयान में भारत के प्रधानमंत्री नरेंद्र मोदी ने कहा था कि ‘दोषियों को सख़्त सज़ा दी जाएगी।’ हालांकि पाकिस्तान ने पहलगाम हमले में अपनी भूमिका से इनकार किया है।

PM मोदी कैबिनेट सुरक्षा कमेटी की बैठक में मौजूद

प्रधानमंत्री आवास पर सुरक्षा मामलों की कैबिनेट कमेटी (CCS) बैठक शुरू हो गई है। इसमें गृह मंत्री अमित शाह और रक्षा मंत्री राजनाथ सिंह मौजूद हैं। CCS की यह दूसरी मीटिंग हैं। पहली मीटिंग पहलगाम अटैक के अगले दिन 23 अप्रैल को हुई थी। CCS की बैठक के तुरंत बाद कैबिनेट कमेटी ऑन पार्लियामेंट्री अफेयर्स की मीटिंग होगी। इस कमेटी को सुपर कैबिनेट भी कहा जाता है। इसके बाद आर्थिक मामलों की कमेटी और केंद्रीय कैबिनेट की बैठक होगी। इससे पहले मंगलवार को PM मोदी ने PM ने तीनों सेना प्रमुख, NSA अजीत डोभाल, CDS अनिल चौहान के साथ डेढ़ घंटे हाई लेवल मीटिंग की। PM मोदी ने सेनाओं को फ्री-हैंड दे दिया और कहा कि सेना ही आतंकवाद के खिलाफ कार्रवाई का तरीका, लक्ष्य और समय तय करे।
पाकिस्तान की ओर से भी लगातार बयानबाजी हो रही है। आईटी मिनिस्टर अताउल्लाह तारड़ ने मंगलवार देर रात कहा कि भारत अगले 24 से 36 घंटे में पाकिस्तान पर हमला कर सकता है। उन्होंने कहा- हमारे पास हमले की पुख्ता जानकारी है। पहलगाम अटैके के बाद LoC पर पाकिस्तानी सेना ने लगातार छठी बार सीजफायर का उल्लंघन किया है। LoC पर बारामूला और कुपवाड़ा सेक्टर में फायरिंग की, जिसका भारत ने जवाब दिया। पाकिस्तानी सेना ने अंतरराष्ट्रीय सीमा पर सीजफायर का उल्लंघन किया है। पाकिस्तानी सेना पिछले 5 दिनों से नियंत्रण रेखा (LoC) पर सीजफायर का उल्लंघन कर रही थी, लेकिन मंगलवार को पाकिस्तान की ओर से अंतरराष्ट्रीय सीमा पर भी सीजफायर का उल्लंघन किया।
पाकिस्तानी सेना ने कल रात जम्मू के पर्गवाल सेक्टर में अंतरराष्ट्रीय सीमा पर फायरिंग की।

Pakistan Accuses India of Planning Military Action, Urges International Attention

Tensions between India and Pakistan have surged after Pakistan accused India of preparing for an imminent military strike. Islamabad claims to have “credible intelligence” that New Delhi is planning an attack within the next 24 to 36 hours, using the recent violence in Kashmir as a pretext. The warning follows a deadly assault in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, on 22 April, which killed 26 people, mostly tourists. India has blamed Pakistan-based militants for the attack, a charge Pakistan strongly denies.

Islamabad Issues Stern Warning

Pakistan’s information minister, Attaullah Tarar, addressed the media on Tuesday, stating that India’s allegations about Pakistan’s involvement in the Pahalgam attack are “baseless and concocted.” He declared that any Indian military move would have “catastrophic consequences” for the region and that Pakistan is fully prepared to defend itself. “Pakistan has credible intelligence that India intends carrying out military action against Pakistan in the next 24-36 hours on the pretext of baseless and concocted allegations,” Tarar said. He also called for an independent, neutral investigation into the Kashmir attack and urged the international community to take notice. According to Tarar, the responsibility for any escalation would rest solely with India.

Pakistan’s defence minister, Khawaja Asif, has confirmed that the country is on high alert and has reinforced its military presence along the Line of Control, the de facto border in Kashmir. Reports from the region indicate increased military activity, with both sides conducting air patrols and exchanging sporadic gunfire.

Regional Tensions and Global Concerns

On the Indian side, officials have not confirmed any immediate plans for military action. However, sources suggest that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has given the military “operational freedom” to respond to the Kashmir attack as it sees fit. Indian security forces have launched extensive operations in Kashmir, detaining over 1,500 people for questioning and demolishing the homes of suspected militants.

The situation has raised concerns internationally, given the history of conflict between the two nuclear-armed neighbours. Analysts warn that any miscalculation could quickly escalate into a broader crisis. So far, the international response has been muted, but diplomatic observers are urging both sides to exercise restraint. As military posturing continues and rhetoric intensifies, the risk of escalation remains high, making the coming days critical for peace and stability in the region.

Polynya: कुदरत ऐसे चमत्कार दिखाती है कि जिससे चांद पर पहुंचकर कायनात को काबू करने का दावा करने वाला इंसान भी हैरान रह जाता है। हाल ही में अंटार्कटिका में एक विशाल गड्ढा दिखाई दिया है। इस गड्ढे का आकार स्विट्जरलैंड यानी करीब आधा बिहार के बराबर है। इस आश्चर्यजनक घटना ने दुनिया भर के वैज्ञानिकों का ध्यान खींचा है। आइये जानते हैं कि यह छेद या गड्ढा क्या है, कैसे बना और इसके धरती के लिए क्या मायने हैं?

Polynya-कहां बना गड्ढा

यह गड्ढा अंटार्कटिका दक्षिणी महासागर के मौड राइज क्षेत्र (Maud Rise plateau) के ऊपर दिखाई दिया है। समुद्री बर्फ में यह बड़ा गड्ढा कई हफ्तों तक खुला रहा, जिससे सवाल उठे कि ऐसा क्यों हो रहा है? धरती की सतह पर अचानक बने इन गड्ढों को Polynya कहते हैं। Polynya समुद्री बर्फ में ऐसे क्षेत्र होते हैं जहां बर्फ का आवरण टूट जाता है या पिघल जाता है, जिससे नीचे समुद्र दिखाई देने लगता है।

Polynya: इस विशाल छेद के निर्माण में कई कारकों ने योगदान दिया है। एक महत्वपूर्ण प्रक्रिया एकमैन परिवहन है-एक ऐसी घटना,  जिसमें हवा से चलने वाली धाराएं नमक से भरे पानी को क्षेत्र की ओर धकेलती हैं। इससे नीचे से बर्फ पिघलने लगी, जिससे छेद के कई हफ़्तों तक खुला रहने के लिए जरूरी परिस्थितियां बन गईं। ध्रुवीय क्षेत्रों में ये छिद्र असामान्य नहीं हैं, लेकिन Maud Rise Seamount Polynya का आकार और अवधि इसे विशेष रूप से उल्लेखनीय बनाती है। Maud Rise Seamount Polynya, वेडेल सागर के नीचे स्थित एक बड़ा पानी के नीचे का पहाड़ है। पहाड़, इस क्षेत्र में समुद्री धाराओं के साथ मिलकर एक घुमावदार प्रभाव पैदा करके Polynya के निर्माण में योगदान करते हैं, जो गर्म, नमकीन पानी को फंसाता है। यह गर्म पानी नीचे से बर्फ को कमज़ोर करता है।
हाल के शोध में पाया गया कि वैश्विक तापमान बढ़ने के साथ-साथ उष्णकटिबंधीय तूफान, जो अधिक आम हैं, छेद को बनाए रखने के लिए अतिरिक्त ऊर्जा प्रदान करते हैं।
अंटार्कटिका की बर्फीली सतह पर निर्मित हुए इस गड्ढे को देखकर वैज्ञानिक भी हैरान रह गए। अंटार्कटिका की समुद्री बर्फ पर ये गड्ढा अचानक बना और फिर धीरे-धीरे आकार में इतना बड़ा होता चला गया कि इसका क्षेत्रफल भारतीय राज्य बिहार के बराबर हो गया। ये कई दिनों तक वैज्ञानिकों की परेशानी का सबब बना रहा, लेकिन अब उन्होंने इसके पीछे की वजह का पता लगा लिया है।
NASA के वैज्ञानिकों की नजर सबसे पहले इस काले धब्बे पर पड़ी थी। ये गड्ढा ‘Moud Rise’ नाम के पठार के ठीक ऊपर दिखाई दे रहा था, जो पूरी तरह से जल में डूबा हुआ है। इस खाई को नाम दिया गया- पोलिन्या (Polynya)! इतिहास बताता है कि Polynya की खोज सबसे पहले 1970 के दशक में हुई थी, जब दक्षिणी महासागर के ऊपर समुद्री बर्फ का निरीक्षण करने के लिए सैटेलाइट्स को पहली बार लॉन्च किया गया था। साइंस एडवांसेज (earth) की रिपोर्ट के मुताबिक, यह गड्ढा 1974 से 1976 तक लगातार सर्दियों में बना रहा और उस समय समुद्र विज्ञानियों ने मान लिया था कि यह एक सालाना घटना बन जाएगी। लेकिन 1970 के दशक से, यह केवल छिटपुट रूप से और कुछ समय के लिए ही रहा। साउथेम्प्टन विश्वविद्यालय का कहना है कि 1970 के दशक के बाद से 2017 में पहली बार वेडेल सागर में इतना बड़ा और लंबे समय तक रहने वाला Polynya देखा गया।

कैसे बना Polynya

Polynya: पानी में डूबा Moud Rise पहाड़ समुद्री धाराओं को हिलाता है। सर्दियों में क्लॉक वाइज घूमने वाले वेडेल गाइर (वेडेल सागर में मौजूद एक समुद्री धारा) की स्पीड बढ़ गई, जिससे गहरी और नमकीन पानी की एक गहरी परत सतह के पास आ गई। इससे नीचे की बर्फ पिघलने लगी, जिससे सतह की बर्फ कमजोर हो गई और गड्ढा बनने लगा। इस प्रक्रिया को ‘अपवेलिंग’ कहते हैं। गोथेनबर्ग विश्वविद्यालय में भौतिक समुद्र विज्ञान के प्रोफेसर फैबियन रोक्वेट के अनुसार, ये अपवेलिंग यह समझाने में मदद करता है कि समुद्री बर्फ कैसे पिघल सकती है! लेकिन जैसे-जैसे समुद्री बर्फ पिघलती है, इससे सतह का पानी ताज़ा हो जाता है।
रिपोर्ट के मुताबिक, इस गड्ढे को बनाने में सिर्फ अपवेलिंग ही जिम्मेदार नहीं है, बल्कि कुछ और कारकों का भी इसमें हाथ रहता है। जैसे समुद्री तूफान और एटमॉस्फेरिक रिवर जैसी वायुमंडलीय प्रकियाएं। हालांकि, वैज्ञानिकों का मानना है कि ऐसी घटनाएं भविष्य के लिए चिंताजनक हैं।

Kolkata Hotel Fire: 14 dead, 13 Injured as Massive Fire Erupts in Burrabazar

A devastating fire erupted at the Rituraj Hotel in Kolkata’s congested Burrabazar area. The fire erupted on Tuesday night at around 8:15 pm. The incident left at least 14 people dead and 13 others injured.

The massive fire and the aftermath has triggered panic among guests and staff. Several trapped in the hotel attempted to escape through windows and narrow ledges as smoke rapidly filled the building.

Rescue Efforts Hampered by Congested Lanes

Manoj Kumar Verma, Kolkata Police Commissioner stated that 60 hotel staff members were on the premises at the time of the fire. Ten fire engines were dispatched to the scene to contain the fire. However the rescue efforts were significantly hindered by the narrow lanes in the Falpatti Machhua zone. The region is one of the busiest commercial hubs in eastern India.

Additional Commissioner of Police Subhankar Sinha Sarkar told reporters that “Fourteen bodies have been recovered and several people have been rescued by the teams. “The fire is now under control.”

The authorities further stated that despite multiple challenges, several people were rescued. Eventually the blaze was brought under control. Of the 13 injured, one person remains hospitalized while the others have been treated and discharged.

Investigation Underway to Determine Cause

Following the devastating incident the authorities have launched a probe into the cause of the fire. According to reports a special investigation team has been formed. So far eight of the 14 deceased have been identified.

Political Leaders Demand Accountability

Union Minister and West Bengal BJP President Sukanta Majumdar expressed deep concern over the tragedy. The minister called for urgent relief and stricter fire safety enforcement in the state.

In a post on X he wrote, “I urge the state administration to immediately rescue those affected, ensure their safety, and provide them with necessary medical and humanitarian assistance. Additionally, I appeal for a thorough review and stricter monitoring of fire safety measures to prevent such tragic incidents in the future”.

Furthermore, West Bengal Congress President Subhankar Sarkar hit out at the city administration. While talking to the media he said “This is a tragic incident. A fire broke out. A lot of people were stuck in the building. There was no safety or security. I don’t know what the corporation is doing”.

Officials Visit Scene

In addition, the Kolkata Mayor Firhad Hakim and Police Commissioner Goyal visited the site where the incident occurred late in the night. The visit was to oversee firefighting and rescue efforts.

Pakistan Violates Ceasefire Along LoC for the 6th Night, India Retaliates

The Pakistan Army is reluctantly engaged in unprovoked small arms firing at several locations along the Line of Control (LoC) in Jammu and Kashmir. This cross-border firing marks the sixth straight day of hostilities. The firing incident comes against the backdrop of rising tensions between India and Pakistan. This followed the Pahalgam terror attack in Jammu and Kashmir. The terror attack claimed the lives of 26 people by militants based in Pakistan.

Since the incident, the Jammu and Kashmir region is witnessing night of heightened tensions as the Pakistan Army resorted to unprovoked small arms firing. However, the Indian Army troops retaliated in a swift and proportionate manner. According to reports the army seems to have maintained tactical restraint while responding across affected sectors.

Where did the firing occur?

Reports suggest the firing occurred on Tuesday night. The regions where the firing took place are Naushera and Sunderbani sectors of Rajouri. The Akhnoor and Pargwal sectors in Jammu, as well as in Baramulla and Kupwara districts of Kashmir. The Officials confirmed that Indian forces responded in a “measured and calibrated” manner to the provocations and violations of Pakistan.

“During the night of 29–30 April 2025, Pakistan Army posts initiated unprovoked small-arms fire across the Line of Control opposite the Naushera, Sunderbani and Akhnoor sectors in the Union Territory of Jammu & Kashmir. Indian Army troops responded swiftly and proportionately,” the Indian Army said in a statement.

Aftermath of Pahalgam Terror Attack

The authorities believe that the continued flare-ups come in the wake of the deadly Pahalgam terror attack. The attack occurred on April 22, which claimed the lives of 26 civilians. The attack was carried out by Pakistan-based militants. The deadly incident occurred at the popular Baisaran meadow in south Kashmir.

Meanwhile, the incident triggered nationwide outrage and a series of diplomatic and military responses from New Delhi. The government of India also took several measures in response to the attack. This includes suspending the Indus Water Treaty of 1960, revoking all visas issued to Pakistani nationals from April 27 and immediately shutting down the Attari land-transit post.

Following the Pahalgam terror attack, the frequency of ceasefire violations by Pakistani forces has sharply risen. This rise in the number of violations on the border by Pakistan suggests a deliberate escalation. According to reports, on the night of April 25–26 alone, firing was reported from 34 unconfirmed locations along the LoC.

India Gives Armed Forces “Operational Freedom”

Amidst the growing cross-border aggression, Prime Minister Narendra Modi chaired a high-level security review on Tuesday. Following the meeting, the PM emphasized that Indian armed forces have been granted “complete operational freedom” to decide the timing, strategy, and targets of any response against those responsible for cross-border terrorism.

PM Modi had earlier said that India will “identify, track, and punish” the terrorists behind the Pahalgam attack and pursue the killers to the “ends of the earth”.

Pakistan Denies Involvement, Proposes Probe

However, Pakistan has refuted allegations of involvement in the Pahalgam attack. Pakistan information Minister Attaullah Tarar accused India of acting on “baseless and concocted” claims. He said India is playing “judge, jury and executioner”, a role it rejects. “Being a responsible state, Pakistan openly offered a credible, transparent and independent investigation by a neutral commission of experts to ascertain the truth,” he said.

UN Chief Calls for De-escalation, Offers Mediation

Amid the escalating border tensions between the two nations, United Nations Secretary-General António Guterres reached out to both Indian External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar and Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif. He strongly condemned and expressed sorrow over the Pahalgam attack and highlighted the importance of justice through lawful means.

The UN Chief expressed deep concern over the rising hostility between the two nuclear-armed neighbors. He offered his Good Offices to facilitate de-escalation efforts and prevent further deterioration of peace in both the region.

Bengaluru Woman’s ₹1.4 Cr Mercedes Wrecked by Valets Shooting Instagram Reels

A shocking incident has come to light from Bengaluru’s Marathahalli region. A fun family outing turned into a distressing ordeal for Bengaluru resident Divya Chhabra. This comes as her newly purchased Mercedes-Benz, worth ₹1.4 crore, was severely damaged by valet staff.

The incident occurred at The Big Barbeque restaurant in Marathahalli. The valets were allegedly misusing the luxury car to create Instagram reels. The claims were made by Mercedes’ owner Chhabra who stated the reels practice is alarmingly common.

Valets Caught Joyriding in CCTV Footage

According to reports The Big Barbeque restaurant initially described the crash as a minor parking mishap. However, a later-released CCTV footage painted a completely different picture. The footage revealed that three valets took turns driving the car recklessly in the restaurant’s basement area. In the footage it was also seen that at least one of them filmed content for social media.

Following the release of the CCTV footage Chhabra issued a public video statement. Chhabra disclosed that only one of the three valets held a valid driving licence. She further claimed that one had no licence at all.

Lastly, Abdulla Laskar, the individual who ultimately crashed the car allegedly was found to have submitted a fake licence. An RTO verification was conducted on the three valets. RTO verification from Assam confirmed that the licence’s date of issue (2010) was inconsistent with Laskar’s birth year (1999).

Allegations of Fraud and Cover-Up

Tensions escalated as Chhabra accused the restaurant of attempting to cover up the incident. She said the management initially presented a random man as the driver. She claimed that the man restaurant presented was not among those shown in the CCTV footage.

She also alleged that the man wasn’t even present on the day of the crash. Furthermore, the restaurant allegedly fabricated a backdated agreement with a third-party valet agency to shift responsibility.

Furthermore, the insurance investigators validated the claims made by Chhabra. They confirmed both the misuse of the vehicle and the fake credentials. Investigators also recovered the video reel shot by the valets.

Legal Action and Unresolved Insurance Claims

According to reports, the estimated damage to the vehicle stands at ₹20 lakh. However, Chhabra says her insurance claim remains unresolved. The three accused valets are reportedly absconding in Assam. Meanwhile, the restaurant’s owner, instead of cooperating with the investigation, has filed a petition. The petition is allegedly filed in the High Court seeking to quash the FIRs, she added.

Chhabra’s Statement

“This isn’t just about one car,” said Chhabra. “This is about a system that lets untrained, unlicensed individuals handle vehicles worth crores, and when things go wrong, the attempt is to silence the victim, not fix the process.”
