New Pamban Bridge is an Architectural Marvel with a Lifespan of 100 Years

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate India’s first vertical lift railway Sea bridge, Pamban Bridge, in Tamil Nadu on 6th April, on Ramnavmi. The 2.07 km bridge will cross the Palk Strait to facilitate smoother connectivity between Rameswaram and mainland India.
The bridge will replace the original Pamban Bridge built in 1914 in a cantilever structure with a Scherzer Rolling Lift span. Over time, the bridge started to get affected by the harsh marine environment and eventually became inefficient for the growing traffic demand. In 2019, the Centre sanctioned the construction of a new bridge designed to meet modern transportation needs while preserving the cultural significance of the place as well.

Pandan 2.0

The new bridge is designed by Rail Vikas Nigam Limited (RVNL), a public sector unit under the Ministry of Railway, in a technologically advanced format. The key features of the bridge include a 72.5 m navigation span that can be raised up to 17 m to allow larger ships to pass, enhanced durability including stainless steel reinforcement, high-grade protective paint, the presence of structures to accommodate two tracks and a 3 m height to not affect sea connectivity negatively.
However, the construction of the bridge involved environmental challenges like turbulent water, cyclones and seismic activities in the region. Despite this, the project was completed safely. The new Pamban Bridge will showcase India’s growing infrastructure capabilities and is designed to ensure a lifespan of over 100 years.

Greater Noida के सेक्टर MU-2 की शिव शक्ति Society में एक दुखद घटना घटी, जहां कन्या पूजन के लिए पड़ोसी के घर गई एक तीन साल की बच्ची चौथे फ्लोर से गिर गई और उसकी मौत हो गई। बच्ची के परिवार में कोहराम मचा हुआ है। Society के लोग भी प्राधिकरण की लापरवाही से नाराज हैं क्योंकि अपार्टमेंट की ग्रिल टूटी हुई थी।
Greater Noida के सेक्टर MU-2 स्थित शिव शक्ति Society में कन्या पूजन के लिए पड़ोस में रहने वाले एक व्यक्ति के घर चौथे फ्लोर पर गई एक बच्ची बालकनी से नीचे गिर गई। हादसा बृहस्पतिवार देर शाम को हुआ। आनन-फानन में पीड़ित स्वजन ने बच्ची को यथार्थ अस्पताल में भर्ती कराया, जहां उपचार के दौरान उसकी मौत हो गई।शिव शक्ति अपार्टमेंट में 1st Floor पर Flat number 1834 में रजनीश परिवार के साथ रहते हैं। उन्हीं की Society के पड़ोस वाले Tower में फ्लैट संख्या 1597 में चौथे फ्लोर Rajkumar रहते हैं। राजकुमार के घर पर बृहस्पतिवार को नवरात्रि के मौक़े पर कन्या पूजन था, जिसमें रजनीश की तीन साल की बेटी तन्नू को भी राजकुमार ने अपने घर पर बुलाया था। राजकुमार परिवार के साथ कन्या पूजन की तैयारियों में जुटे थे। तभी तन्नू बालकनी में आकर खेलने लगी। बालकनी में लगी लोहे की ग्रील टूटी हुई थी। खेलने के दौरान बच्ची का पैर फिसल गया और वह नीचे गिर गई। बच्ची को गिरता देख Society में अफरा-तफरी मच गई। सूचना पर पीड़ित स्वजन भी पहुंच गए। आनन-फानन में बच्ची को यथार्थ अस्पताल भर्ती कराया गया, जहां बच्ची की उपचार के दौरान मौत हो गई।

Society में सन्नाटा, परिवार में मचा कोहराम

बच्ची की मौत के बाद पूरी Society और बच्ची के परिवार में मातम पसरा है। Society के दीपक ठाकुर ने बताया कि रजनीश एक प्राइवेट संस्थान में नौकरी कर परिवार का भरण-पोषण करते हैं। तन्नू उनकी इकलौती बच्ची थी। बच्ची की मौत के बाद परिवार में मातम पसरा है। बच्ची की चौथे फ्लोर से गिरकर मौत हो जाने के बाद Society के लोग भी आक्रोशित है। Society के लोगों ने प्राधिकरण की कार्यशैली पर सवाल उठाते हुए नाराजगी जताई है। दरअसल प्राधिकरण ने BHS-10 योजना के अंतर्गत सेक्टर MU-2 स्थित शिव शक्ति अपार्टमेंट बनाकर फ्लैटों का आवंटन किया था। Society में योजना के अंतर्गत 40 वर्ग मीटर के 1904 फ्लैट बनाकर 2009 में Possession दिया था। निवासियों का कहना है कि अपार्टमेंट के देखरेख की जिम्मेदारी प्राधिकरण की है। लेकिन कब्जा देने के बाद प्राधिकरण अधिकारियों ने इस दिशा में कोई कदम नहीं उठाया। फ्लैटों की हालत जर्जर हो चुकी है, ग्रिल टूटी पड़ी है।

लोगों ने IGRS पोर्टल पर की कई बार शिकायत

बच्ची की मौत प्राधिकरण की लापरवाही का ही नतीजा है। Society के RWA महासचिव दीपक ठाकुर ने बताया कि इमारतों की मरम्मत व टूटी ग्रिल बदलवाने को लेकर पूर्व में कई बार प्राधिकरण अधिकारियों से गुहार लगाई जा चुकी है। कई बार शिकायती पत्र भी सौंपे। IGRS पोर्टल पर भी कई बार शिकायत की गई, लेकिन अधिकारियों के कानों जूं नहीं रेंगी। Society के लोग बच्चों की जिंदगी को दाव पर लगाकर ख़ामियाज़ा भुगतने को मजबूर हैं।
इससे पहले भी Society में नाली में डूबकर वर्ष 2017 में एक बच्चे की मौत हो चुकी है। उस दौरान नालियों पर स्लैब डालने की मांग को लेकर निवासियों ने हंगामा किया था। बच्चे की मौत के बाद प्राधिकरण के अधिकारी हरकत में आए और नालियों को पाटा गया।

India-Sri Lanka Sign 10 Agreements During Modi’s Visit to Colombo City

In the meeting between Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Sri Lankan President Anura Kumara Dissanayake, the two parties agreed on defence cooperation, electric grid connectivity, and an energy hub at Trincomalee, Sri Lanka.
Indian Prime Minister also said that New Delhi would continue assisting the island nation’s walk towards economic recovery.

Multiple Agreements

A total of 10 agreements for cooperation were finalised between the two sides in areas ranging from digital transformation to debt restructuring, and health and medicine to power plant projects. 
“Whether it was the terrorist attack of 2019, the Covid pandemic or the recent economic crisis, we have stood with the people of Sri Lanka in every difficult situation,” said Prime Minister Modi at a joint media interaction with the Sri Lankan counterpart, after the meeting was concluded in Columbus city.
Having a special place in India’s ‘Neighbourhood First Policy’ and MAHASAGAR vision, Prime Minister Modi announced a range of measures to boost the island’s effort to recover from the worst economic crisis in its history.
A tripartite MoU was also signed that involved the United Arab Emirates (UAE) to develop Trincomalee as an energy hub, including the construction of a multi-product energy pipeline.

Siddhivinayak Bhagyalakshmi Yojana: श्री सिद्धिविनायक गणपति मंदिर न्यास (Shri Siddhivinayak Ganpati Temple) ने एक नई योजना शुरू करने का प्रस्ताव रखा है। इस योजना का नाम ‘श्री सिद्धिविनायक भाग्यलक्ष्मी’ योजना (Siddhivinayak Bhagyalakshmi Yojana) है। यह योजना उन नवजात बच्चियों के लिए है जो 8 मार्च को अंतरराष्ट्रीय महिला दिवस (International Women’s Day) पर सरकारी अस्पतालों (Government Hospital in Maharashtra) में जन्म लेंगी। इसका मकसद बेटी बचाओ, बेटी पढ़ाओ जैसे सरकारी प्रयासों को समर्थन देना है। न्यास बालिकाओं के विकास के लिए उनके नाम पर 10,000 रुपये की फिक्स्ड डिपॉजिट करेगा। Government Scheme for Girl Child 

Siddhivinayak Bhagyalakshmi Yojana: लड़कियों के जन्म को प्रोत्साहित करना है मकसद

श्री सिद्धिविनायक गणपति मंदिर न्यास लड़कियों के जन्म को प्रोत्साहित करना चाहता है। वे उनकी शिक्षा के लिए आर्थिक मदद भी करना चाहते हैं। यह प्रस्ताव सरकार की मंजूरी के लिए भेजा जाएगा। इस योजना के तहत जन्म लेने वाली बच्ची के नाम पर 10,000 रुपये की राशि उसकी मां के खाते में जमा की जाएगी। यह पैसा फिक्स्ड डिपॉजिट के रूप में होगा। श्री सिद्धिविनायक गणपति मंदिर न्यास की विश्वस्त समिति की बैठक 31 मार्च 2025 को हुई थी। बैठक की अध्यक्षता सदानंद सरवणकर ने की। न्यास का 2024-25 का वार्षिक विवरण और 2025-26 का बजट भी इस बैठक में पेश किया गया। न्यास को 114 करोड़ रुपये की आय होने की उम्मीद थी, लेकिन वास्तव में 133 करोड़ रुपये की आय हुई। न्यास ने बताया  कि पिछले साल की तुलना में न्यास की आय में 15 प्रतिशत की वृद्धि हुई है। Government Scheme 

नवजात बालिकाओं के लिए ‘भाग्यलक्ष्मी’ योजना का प्रस्ताव

मुंबई में भगवान गणेश के प्रसिद्ध मंदिर का प्रबंधन करने वाले सिद्धिविनायक मंदिर ट्रस्ट की आय पिछले वित्त वर्ष (2024-25) में सालाना आधार पर 16 प्रतिशत बढ़कर 133 करोड़ रुपये हो गई। अधिकारियों ने बताया कि आय वृद्धि में सबसे ज्यादा योगदान भक्तों द्वारा दिए गए दान और चढ़ावे का रहा। इसके अलावा, पूजा और अन्य अनुष्ठानों से 20 करोड़ रुपये की आय हुई। उन्होंने बताया कि मंदिर को दान पेटियों, ऑनलाइन भुगतान, अनुष्ठानों, प्रसाद की बिक्री और सोने-चांदी की नीलामी सहित कई स्रोतों से आय हासिल हुई। इसलिए मंदिर प्रशासन इस तरह से सामाजिक काम कर रहा है। बहरहाल हम आपको बता दें कि इसके पहले भी सिद्धिविनायक ट्रस्ट लगातार इस तरह के सामाजिक कामों में आगे रहता है। Ganpati Mandir in Mumbai

MHA to Facilitate Kuki-Meitei Peace Talks in New Delhi

The Ministry of Home Affairs is soon going to hold joint talks with the Kuki-Zo and Meitei groups of Manipur in New Delhi. The talks, which are scheduled for Saturday afternoon, will see the two communities coming together for a peace talk mediated by the centre for the first time in the last two years.
In October 2024, the Home Affairs Ministry, headed by BJP leader Amit Shah, failed to conduct a meeting between the two parties in New Delhi. The Kuki MLAs attended the meeting but refused to sit for a discussion with the Meitei MLAs in the same room.
“We are confident that a joint meeting with both groups will soon be held in New Delhi,” said HM Amit Shah in the early hours of Friday during Rajya Sabha discussion on the statutory resolution on the proclamation of the President’s rule in Manipur.
On 4 April 2025, the Parliament adopted the statutory resolution, which was issued by the President on 13th February of this year under Article 356(1) of the Constitution in relation to the state of Manipur. The Lok Sabha has already approved it.

Political Circus

Amit Shah claimed in the Lok Sabha that 260 people have died in the violence so far in the violence.
“Sporadic violence continued for a decade where 750 people lost their lives. There were Kuki-Paite clashes in 1997-98 when 352 people were killed. In the Meitei-Pangal clashes in the 1990s, over 100 people died. Neither the then prime minister nor the then home minister visited Manipur,” said Shah.
The Home Minister contested that impression has been given that violence in Manipur only erupted during the BJP rule.
Violence in the state of Manipur started in May 2023 and has now become a ground for a political circus.

RBI to issue Rs 10 and Rs 500 notes bearing signature of Governor Sanjay Malhotra

The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) will be issuing Rs 10 and Rs 500 denomination banknotes in Mahatma Gandhi (New) Series, bearing the signature of the new Governor Sanjay Malhotra. As per an official statement issued by the RBI on Friday, “The design of these notes is similar in all respects to Rs 10 and Rs 500 banknotes in Mahatma Gandhi (New) Series.”
However, all banknotes in the denomination of Rs 10 and Rs 500 issued by the Reserve Bank in the past will continue to be legal tender. The size of the new Rs 500 note will be 66mm x 150mm.
This comes after RBI’s recent announcement that it is going to issue banknotes of Rs 100 and Rs 200 denominations bearing the signature of Governor Malhotra.

Who is RBI’s new Governor Sanjay Malhotra?

Sanjay Malhotra took over as the RBI Governor in December 2024, replacing former Governor Shaktikanta Das, whose term concluded on December 10, last year. A 1990-batch IAS officer from the Rajasthan cadre, Malhotra took charge as the 26th Governor of the Reserve Bank of India.
The 56-year-old IAS officer before assuming the role of RBI Governor, served as the Revenue Secretary in the Ministry of Finance. Malhotra played a key role in the implementation of the new income tax regime.

Born in 1968, Sanjay Malhotra grew up in Bikaner, Rajasthan, where he completed his schooling at Kendriya Vidyalaya. He graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science from IIT Kanpur and went on to earn his Master’s degree in Public Policy from Princeton University, USA.
He has more than three decades of experience in public policy with expertise in areas like power, finance and taxation.

Mission Axiom 4: भारत जल्द ही अंतरिक्ष में नया इतिहास रचने वाला है। भारतीय वायुसेना के कैप्टन Shubhanshu Shukla इंटरनेशनल स्पेस स्टेशन ISS में जाने वाले पहले भारतीय बनने वाले हैं। Mission Axiom 4 की लॉन्चिंग डेट सामने आ गई है। अंतरिक्ष यात्री Sunita Williams और Butch Wilmore को सफलतापूर्वक धरती पर वापस लाने के बाद, वही SpaceX Dragon अंतरिक्ष यान एक और ऐतिहासिक मिशन के लिए तैयार है। अब सभी की निगाहें आगामी Mission Axiom 4 (X-4) पर हैं। दिलचस्प बात यह है कि इस मिशन में भारतीय अंतरिक्ष यात्री Shubhanshu Shukla अंतर्राष्ट्रीय अंतरिक्ष स्टेशन (ISS) जाएंगे। शुभांशु पहले भारतीय होंगे जो ISS जाएंगे।

कौन हैं Shubhanshu Shukla

10 अक्टूबर 1985 को Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh में जन्मे Shubhanshu Shukla एक कुशल लड़ाकू पायलट हैं, जिन्हें 2,000 घंटे से अधिक उड़ान का अनुभव है। Shubhanshu ने लखनऊ के सिटी मॉन्टेसरी स्कूल से शिक्षा प्राप्त करने के बाद राष्ट्रीय रक्षा अकादमी (NDA) पुणे से स्नातक की, और बैचलर ऑफ़ टेक्नोलॉजी (B.Tech.) की डिग्री ली। बाद में उन्होंने भारतीय विज्ञान संस्थान (IISc), Banglore से मास्टर ऑफ़ टेक्नोलॉजी की पढ़ाई की। वह 2006 में भारतीय वायुसेना में शामिल हुए और एक टेस्ट पायलट बन गए। उन्होंने Su-30 MKI, MiG-21 और जगुआर जैसे विभिन्न विमानों में महारत हासिल की। 2019 में, उन्हें अंतरिक्ष यात्री प्रशिक्षण के लिए चुना गया और Yuri Gagarin Cosmonaut Training Center Russia में उन्होंने तैयारी की। मार्च 2024 में उन्हें ग्रुप कैप्टन के पद पर पदोन्नत किया गया।
ग्रुप कैप्टन Shubhanshu Shukla के परिवार के अनुसार कारगिल के दौरान भारतीय सैनिकों की बहादुरी और बलिदान की वीर गाथाओं को पढ़ने के बाद उन्हें सशस्त्र बल में शामिल होने की प्रेरणा मिली। एक इंटरव्यू के दौरान उनकी बड़ी बहन का कहना था कि 1999 में जब कारगिल में युद्ध छिड़ा था, तब वह सिर्फ 14 साल के थे। उस समय पाकिस्तानी घुसपैठियों ने नियंत्रण रेखा (LoC) पार कर भारतीय चौकियों पर अतिक्रमण कर लिया था। इसकी ख़बरें TV चैनलों पर देखकर Shubhanshu का खून खौल उठता था। सचिवालय के रिटायर्ड शंभूदयाल शुक्ला के बेटे Shubhanshu बचपन से अंतरिक्ष में राज करने का सपना देखा करते थे। बचपन से ही बाइक और कार को स्पीड में चलाने का शौक था। छठी कक्षा के छात्र के रूप में, शुक्ला का वायुसेना में शामिल होने का सपना तब जगा, जब उन्होंने एक एयर शो के दौरान एक लड़ाकू विमान को अपने पीछे, बहुत नीचे से उड़ते देखा और वे इसके प्रति आकर्षित हो गए। शुभांशु की मां आशा हाउस वाइफ हैं। कठिन परिस्थितियों में सरवाईव करने की काबिलियत ने ही उन्हें Mission Gaganyan का हिस्सा बनाया।

भारत के पहले अंतरिक्ष यात्री Rakesh Sharma हैं प्रेरणास्रोत

ग्रुप कैप्टन Shubhanshu Shukla का जन्म Rakesh Sharma की अंतरिक्ष में ऐतिहासिक उड़ान के एक साल बाद हुआ था, जिसकी याद आज भी पूरे भारत में गूंजती है, जिनके बारे में आज भी कहा जाता है कि चांद पर पड़ने वाला सबसे पहला इंसानी कदम Rakesh Sharma का था, जिसके निशां आज भी चांद पर मौज़ूद हैं। NASA ने भारतीय वायु सेना के अधिकारी को SpaceX अंतरिक्ष यान को अंतर्राष्ट्रीय अंतरिक्ष स्टेशन तक ले जाने की मंजूरी दे दी है। Gaganyan के अलावा, शुक्ला को 2024 में अंतर्राष्ट्रीय अंतरिक्ष स्टेशन (ISS) के लिए Axiom Mission 4 (X-4) को पायलट करने के लिए चुना गया। इससे वह ISS का दौरा करने वाले पहले भारतीय अंतरिक्ष यात्री बन जाएंगे, जो भारत की अंतरिक्ष यात्रा में एक प्रमुख मील का पत्थर होगा। Shubhanshu Shukla, जिन्हें उनके Axiom 4 चालक दल के सदस्य प्यार से Shuks कहते थे, ने कहा, “पहले भारतीय अंतरिक्ष यात्री विंग कमांडर राकेश शर्मा ने 1984 में अंतरिक्ष की यात्रा की थी। मेरा जन्म 1985 में हुआ था और मैं उनसे बहुत प्रभावित हूं।”

Mission Axiom 4

Vadodara Crash Accused Was High on Marijuana, Not Alcohol: Forensic Report

A month after a horrific car crash in Vadodara that claimed a woman’s life and injured seven others, a forensic report has confirmed that the driver, Rakshit Chaurasia, was under the influence of marijuana during the incident. The 23-year-old is a fourth-year law student at Maharaja Sayajirao University and hails from Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh.
The late-night crash occurred around 12:30 am on March 13, 2025 near Amrapali Chaar Rasta in the city’s Karelibaug area. Chaurasia’s car rammed into multiple two-wheelers, resulting in the death of 38-year-old Hemali Patel and leaving several others injured. The vehicle, a Volkswagen Virtus, belonged to his friend Pranshu Chauhan, who was also present in the car along with a third occupant, Suresh Bharwad.

Disturbing Visuals Surfaces Online

Following the crash, disturbing footage emerged online, showing Chaurasia, clad in a black T-shirt, walking dazed on the road, shouting “another round” and chanting “Om Namah Shivay.” Eyewitnesses said he appeared disoriented and was eventually restrained by locals before police arrived.
Initially, Chaurasia claimed that he was neither drunk nor high and blamed the accident on an airbag malfunction after hitting a pothole. However, the Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) in Gandhinagar detected traces of marijuana in the blood samples of all three men. Deputy Commissioner of Police (Zone 4), Panna Momaya, confirmed that separate charges under the NDPS Act were added, along with Section 185 of the Motor Vehicles Act for driving under the influence of drugs.

Police sources revealed that the trio had met at Bharwad’s home before heading out. While Chauhan has been arrested, Bharwad is expected to be taken into custody soon. Chaurasia was arrested a day after the incident and is currently lodged at Vadodara Central Jail.
In addition to the NDPS charges, Chaurasia faces accusations of culpable homicide not amounting to murder, rash driving, and endangering public safety. The impact of the crash was so severe that several victims were thrown into the air, as captured by CCTV footage. Four of the injured victims remain hospitalised.

Ram Navami in West Bengal: 60 rallies expected in Kolkata; 29 senior IPS officers deployed to prevent unrest

Kolkata, India: In anticipation of Ram Navami on Sunday, the West Bengal administration has ramped up security measures across the state, with 60 rallies expected to take place in Kolkata alone. To ensure peace and prevent any orchestrated unrest, 29 Indian Police Service (IPS) officers have been given special assignments across key districts including Howrah, Hooghly, Barrackpore, Malda, Murshidabad and Siliguri. These officers will remain on duty until Monday.

Major Deployments of IPS officers in vulnerable places

The Kolkata Police will deploy between 3,500 to 4,000 personnel throughout the city to maintain law and order. Senior officers of Deputy Commissioner (DC) and Joint Commissioner rank will be posted at major and traditional rally routes, police sources confirmed. Drone surveillance, CCTV monitoring, and videography will also be implemented for heightened oversight. Picketing has been planned along designated rally routes, while Quick Response Teams (QRTs) will remain on standby. Mobile patrolling, especially in sensitive areas such as Hastings, Entally, and Cossipore, will also be intensified.
Rallies have been announced not only by the BJP and other right-wing Hindu groups but also by the ruling Trinamool Congress (TMC). In areas with significant Hindi-speaking populations — such as Asansol and Siliguri — the TMC is set to hold its own processions. In Jalpaiguri, TMC councillors have reportedly distributed leaflets door-to-door to invite residents to participate in Ram Navami processions.
Kolkata Police Commissioner, Manoj Verma, has stated that any display of weapons during these rallies will be met with legal action. However, Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, while addressing concerns, remarked, “Just as Punjabis carry a kirpan, similar activities can be conducted within the system.” She further stated that while she has no objection to processions, they must be peaceful.
Sources within the police noted that last year, around 60 rallies were conducted in the city during Ram Navami — a figure expected to be mirrored this year. The Commissioner is scheduled to hold a meeting with senior officers at Lalbazar on Saturday at noon to finalise plans.

History of Violence on Ram Navami in Bengal

Ram Navami celebrations in West Bengal have often been marred by communal tensions and violence in recent years. In 2023, violence broke out in Howrah’s Shibpur area during a Ram Navami procession, leading to arson, vandalism, and clashes between communities. The situation had necessitated the deployment of central forces and the imposition of prohibitory orders.
Similarly, in 2022, clashes erupted in several areas including Shibpur and Rishra, prompting a strong response from law enforcement and drawing political fire from both the ruling party and the opposition. Accusations of incitement and negligence flew thick and fast as the state administration scrambled to restore order.
Given this backdrop, the government appears determined to avoid a repeat of previous years, stressing pre-emptive coordination and visible policing. With multiple political and religious factions taking to the streets this year, authorities are on high alert to ensure that Ram Navami passes peacefully.
