Shubman Gill Recognised as the ICC Men’s Player of the Month for February 2025

India’s star batsman Shubman Gill has been recognised as the ICC Men’s Player of the Month for February 2025. Gill’s impressive performance in February helped him outshine Australia’s Steve Smith and New Zealand’s Glenn Phillips. This will be the third time in his career he is securing the prestigious accolade.
The 25-year-old scored an impressive 406 runs in just five One Day Internationals (ODIs), at an extraordinary average of 101.50 and a strike rate of 94.19.

Amazing Display Against England

Gill’s excellent form was clear during India’s home ODI series against England, where he played a key role in India’s 3-0 series win. He showed consistency and elegance, scoring three consecutive half-centuries: a fluent 87 in Nagpur, a composed 60 in Cuttack, and a commanding 112 off just 102 balls in Ahmedabad, including 14 boundaries and three sixes. This century secured India’s decisive victory and earned Gill both Player of the Match and Player of the Series awards.
Reflecting on his strong performances, Gill expressed gratitude to fans and teammates, stating: “It’s always special to contribute to the team’s success and to be recognised for it. My focus has always been on playing positively and making every opportunity count.” His ability to handle pressure calmly has made him an essential player for the Indian cricket team.

Success at ICC Champions Trophy

Gill maintained his excellent form at the ICC Champions Trophy 2025. In his first appearance at the tournament, he scored an unbeaten century (101*) against Bangladesh in India’s opening match in Dubai, guiding India successfully through their chase with composure and precision.
In the next high-pressure match against Pakistan, Gill again showed resilience with a determined innings of 46 runs, helping India remain unbeaten during the group stage. His consistent performances contributed significantly to India’s eventual victory in the Champions Trophy, further enhancing his reputation as a reliable performer in important matches.

Rise to Cricketing Stardom

Shubman Gill’s rise as one of cricket’s leading batsmen has been exceptional. Since his international debut, he has consistently performed well across formats. His latest recognition highlights his rapid ascent in international cricket. Notably, this is Gill’s third ICC Player of the Month award; he previously received this honour twice in 2023—in January and again in September.

In a shocking development, it has been revealed that Kannada actress Ranya Rao, who was recently arrested for smuggling gold into India, had wrapped the gold bars around her waist and calves with bandages and tissues. She hid the additional gold bars and cut pieces in her shoes and front pockets.
The actress was arrested at Bengaluru’s Kempegowda International Airport on March 03 for allegedly attempting to smuggle 14.2 kg of 24-karat gold bars, worth over Rs 12.56 crore, from Dubai. The 31-year-old actress was arrested by the Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) following a tip-off. The arrest occurred while she was flying back from Dubai on an Emirates EK 566 flight.

Ranya Rao did not declare anything, was crossing through green channel

The Directorate of Revenue Intelligence’s arrest memo has disclosed shocking details of the evidence against Kannada actor Ranya Rao in the gold smuggling case. As per the arrest memo, Ranya did not declare anything and was crossing through the green channel when the metal detector flagged something. The actress also failed to provide proof of purchase or declaration for the recovered gold.
The arrest memo mentions, “Attempting to pass through the Green Channel, she denied carrying any dutiable goods, gold, or contraband. However, a metal detector alerted officers to the presence of concealed items on her person.”
A green channel at an airport is a customs lane for the passengers who do not have any dutiable or prohibited goods to declare.
While the actress did not make a baggage declaration with the Indian Customs, the metal detector door indicated presence of a metal. After this, her hand baggage and trolley were scanned but nothing was found. After conducting a body check up of the actress, it was found that gold bars were fastened to her waist and calf muscles using crepe bandage and tissues, while some bars and cut pieces were hidden in her shoes and pockets of her pants.

DRI raids Ranya Rao’s Bengaluru residence

Following her arrest, DRI officers conducted a search at her residence on Lavelle Road in Bengaluru in the presence of her husband Jatin Hukkeri. Cash worth Rs 2.67 crore, additional jewellery worth Rs 2.06 crore and some incriminating documents were seized after the raid.
Additionally, records from Dubai Customs (dated November 13, 2024, and December 20, 2024) have revealed that Ranya had previously purchased gold in Dubai, declared it for travel to Geneva, but instead diverted her journey to India.
The actress has failed to explain the source of the seized cash and jewellery, raising doubts about her involvement in a larger smuggling network.

A dramatic stock market downturn in 2025 caused Indian billionaire tycoons Mukesh Ambani, Gautam Adani, Shiv Nadar and others to sustain a combined $34 billion in losses. These wealthy individuals have lost more than $300 billion in combined assets since the stock market downturn affected them according to Bloomberg Billionaire Index data.

Gautam Adani Faces Biggest Setback

Gautam Adani suffered the largest decline in his net worth, reaching $68.8 billion after losing $10.1 billion. At the same time, his main operating company Adani Enterprises lost 12% of its market value as several other Adani Group stocks endured significant drops. The stock prices for Adani Green Energy dropped by 22% and Adani Total Gas declined by 21.26%. The combined set of business entities operating under the Adani Group recorded negative financial results.
Mukesh Ambani, who remains India’s wealthiest individual with a net worth of $87.5 billion, also faced a decline, losing $3.13 billion this year. While his Reliance Industries saw a 2.54% increase in its stock price, the significant dip in Jio Financial Services, down by 28.7%, contributed to his overall wealth reduction.

Other Billionaire Suffer Heavy Losses

HCL Technologies founder Shiv Nadar together with Wipro chairman Azim Premji both suffered substantial losses in their net worth inventories. The wealth of Nadar declined by $7.13 billion at the same time Premji lost $2.70 billion. During this recent period, Shapoor Mistry of Shapoorji Pallonji Group experienced $4.52 billion in losses while Savitri Jindal of OP Jindal Group suffered $2.22 billion in fortune depletion. Dilip Shanghvi experienced a $4.21 billion reduction in his wealth from Sun Pharmaceutical Industries.

21 साल पहले दुनिया को अलविदा कर चुकी, अमिताभ बच्चन की फिल्म ‘सूर्यवंशम’ की एक्ट्रेस Soundarya को लेकर एक बड़ी खबर सामने आ रही है। Soundarya का एक प्लेन क्रैश हादसे में निधन हो गया था, लेकिन अब इसे महज एक हादसा नहीं, बल्कि हत्या बताया जा रहा है और इस हत्या का आरोप लग रहा है साउथ के दिग्गज एक्टर मोहन बाबू पर! 72 वर्षीय मोहन बाबू Mohan Babu साउथ के जाने-माने एक्टर और फिल्म निर्माता हैं। उन पर एक शख्स ने सौंदर्या की मौत में शामिल होने का आरोप लगाया है। 17 अप्रैल 2004 को एक्ट्रेस ने प्लेन क्रैश हादसे में अपनी जान गंवा दी थी। लेकिन 21 साल बाद अब उनकी मौत को लेकर एक बड़ा विवादित ख़ुलासा सामने आ रहा है। बताया जा रहा है कि Soundarya और Mohan Babu के बीच प्रॉपर्टी को लेकर विवाद चल रहा था और संभवतः यही उनकी हत्या का कारण हो सकता है।

मोहन बाबू पर लगे गंभीर आरोप

 Soundarya की हत्या के लिए Mohan Babu को ज़िम्मेदार ठहराने वाले शिकायतकर्ता का नाम चिट्टीमल्लू है, जिसने सौंदर्या की मौत के मामले में Andhra Pradesh के खम्मम जिले में खम्मम SP और खम्मम District Magistrate के पास शिकायत दर्ज कराते हुए बताया कि सौंदर्या और उनके भाई अमरनाथ ने मोहन बाबू को अपनी छह एकड़ जमीन बेचने से मना कर दिया था, जो कि शमशाबाद के जलपल्ली गांव में थी। Mohan Babu ये ज़मीन किसी भी कीमत पर पाना चाहते थे। इस वजह से उनके बीच विवाद पैदा हो गया था। शिकायतकर्ता ने ये भी कहा कि, मोहन बाबू ने उस जमीन के लिए Soundarya की मौत के बाद उनके भाई-बहनों पर दबाव डाला और जमीन पर कब्जा कर लिया। चिट्टीमल्लू ने खुद की जान को भी मोहन बाबू से खतरा बताया है और पुलिस से सुरक्षा मांगी है। अब देखना होगा कि पुलिस इस मामले में क्या कदम उठाती है और एक्ट्रेस की मौत के 21 साल बाद क्या कोई नई तस्वीर सामने आती है?

कैसे हुई थी Soundarya की मौत

Soundarya एक Popular Actress थीं। उन्होंने अमिताभ बच्चन के साथ फिल्म ‘सूर्यवंशम’ में ‘राधा’ का किरदार निभाया था। इसके अलावा भी उन्होंने ढेरों फिल्में की थीं। अप्रैल, 2004 को एक्ट्रेस BJP और TDP के एक राजनीतिक कार्यक्रम में शामिल होने के लिए करीमनगर जा रही थीं। उनके साथ उनके भाई अमरनाथ भी मौजूद थे। प्लेन क्रैश हो गया और दोनों की मौत हो गई थी। कहा जा रहा था की हादसे के वक्त Soundarya प्रेग्नेंट थीं। सौंदर्या ने महज 31 साल की उम्र में इस दुनिया को अलविदा कह दिया था। उनकी फैमिली उनका शव तक बरामद नहीं कर पाई।

Dhanush Demands 1 Crore in Damages from Nayanthara and Vignesh

Tamil cinema actor Dhanush’s production company has filed a civil suit against actress Nayanthara and filmmaker Vignesh Shivan, alleging copyright infringement. The Wunderbar Films production house has sought ₹1 crore in damages.
The controversy dates back to 2024, when actress Nayanthara released her Netflix documentary ‘Nayanthara: Beyond the Fairytale’. The dispute started over the behind-the-scenes (BTS) footage from the 2015 Tamil film ‘Naanum Rowdy Dhaan’. The footage was allegedly used in Nayanthara’s Netflix documentary without proper authorization.

Legal Allegations Against Nayanthara

The movie, ‘Naanum Rowdy Dhaan’ was produced by Wunderbar Films, making it their intellectual property. The company in the lawsuit claimed that Nayanthara and Shivan used visuals from the film in their documentary without obtaining a No Objection Certificate (NOC).
Furthermore, the affidavit alleged that during the film’s production, Vignesh Shivan focused excessively on Nayanthara. Vignesh took multiple shots of Nayanthara to ensure she delivered her best performance. While doing so he allegedly neglected other cast and crew members of the film.
According to the ongoing legal battle, Dhanush’s Production house initially sought ₹10 crore in damages. The Wunderbar Films filed for an injunction to stop the documentary’s release. However, the interim injunction wasn’t entertained by the Madras High Court as the documentary had already premiered on Netflix on November 18, 2024.

Nayanthara’s Response and Open Letter

Actress Nayanthara addressed the legal claims through an open letter on social media. On November 16, 2024 in a social media post she accused Dhanush of holding a personal grudge against her and her husband Vignesh Shivan. Nayanthara further stated that before the release of her documentary she had been requesting an NOC from Wunderbar Films for two years but received no response from them. She further went on defending her decision to include the BTS footage, emphasising that Naanum Rowdy Dhaan held sentimental value for her and Vignesh, as it was the film where their relationship began.

Nayanthara revealed that only three seconds of BTS footage, captured on personal devices, were included in the documentary. She also wrote, “It’s almost been 10 years since the release of the film, and it is a long time for someone to continue to be this vile while wearing a mask in front of the world. I have not forgotten all the horrible things that you said about the film that was one of your biggest hits as a producer and a film that is loved by all even today”.

Industry Reactions

The legal battle between Dhanush and Nayanthara has become a hot topic in the Tamil film industry sparking significant debate. Director Vignesh Shivan took a dig at the lawsuit, inviting people to watch the disputed footage for free. So far Nayanthara and Vignesh have been vocal over the incident whereas Dhanush has chosen to remain silent in public but continues to pursue legal action.
Meanwhile, the Madras High Court has adjourned the main hearing in the copyright dispute between Dhanush and Nayanthara to April 9, 2025.

Railway Hawker Kanai Saha to Reopen School for Underprivileged Children near Kolkata

He had long cherished a dream of starting an English medium school for the underprivileged children of his locality but did not have the resources. But that could not deter him from keeping his hope alive. A Railway hawker by profession, Kanai Saha started saving money to fulfil his dream of opening an English medium school for children.
Finally his dream project “Little Planet KG School” came into being in 2007 near Kadambagachhi Railway Station of Barasat in North 24 Parganas district in the vicinity of Kolkata. The purpose behind this English medium school was to make English education available for the underprivileged children of the locality, so that they can compete with English educated students and pursue a career of their choice.

From Railway Hawker to School Founder

In order to pursue his dream, Kanai Saha began working in double shifts as a Railway hawker, selling hot kachoris to daily passengers in the morning and evening. The extra money which he started earning was being saved for school infrastructure and paying fees to teachers. Several local residents also came forward offering financial help to build the English medium school, while educated youths volunteered to teach the underprivileged kids.
The school, which started running with classes from nursery to 5th standard, soon gained popularity and gradually got 150 students enrolled. “Many people even discontinued their children from their existing schools and got them enrolled in my school. I have lived in a slum all my life but I made sure that the school building I made was a concrete one,” Little Planet KG School Founder Kanai Saha told The CSR Journal.

Lockdown struck hard

The school was running smoothly till the Covid -19 pandemic hit in 2020 followed by a nationwide lockdown. With Suburban Railway services being hit due to the lockdown, Saha was left without a source of income. Even when other schools resumed post lockdown, the doors of Little Planet KG School remained shut due to lack of funds as Saha could not get back to work due to ailing health.

Starting afresh

The pain was unbearable for the founder. Reality hit him hard when he saw his dream getting shattered into pieces. However, 60-year-old Kanai Saha believes in never say die. He has started taking initiative to restart his school and approaching people for financial support. Local residents, teachers and others have extended their support in his journey. “I believe nothing is impossible. My battle is not over yet. Little Planet KG School will restart again. Kids will again recite A for Apple and B for Ball very soon. But as of now I will have to chant F for Fight every day till I make that happen!” signed off the veteran.

Over 500 Indians Rescued from Cyber Crime Centres in Myanmar

Nearly 500 Indians were rescued from Cyber scam centers in Myanmar. This comes after a coordinated effort with the governments of Myanmar and Thailand, that the Indian Air Force (IAF) evacuated 283 people on Monday from Mae Sot, Thailand. Another batch of 266 Indians were airlifted back to India on Tuesday. Now, the total number of rescued Indians has risen to 549.

Randhir Jaiswal issues Statement

In a post on X, the ministry of external affairs spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal stated that Indian Embassies worked with Myanmar & Thailand governments to secure their release. He wrote, “The Government of India arranged for the safe repatriation of 266 Indians yesterday by an IAF aircraft, who were released from cybercrime centres in South East Asia. On Monday, 283 Indians were similarly repatriated,” Jaiswal said.

Victims of Cybercrime Rackets

According to reports, the repatriated individuals were lured with fake job offers. They were later forced to work in cybercrime syndicates operating along the Myanmar and Thailand border. These scam networks were often allegedly linked to Chinese operators. They coerced the victims into running fraudulent schemes such as phishing, investment fraud, and romance scams.
Following a crackdown on illegal operations around 7,000 workers from at least two dozen countries have been freed. Meanwhile the majority of them are Chinese.
The victims were held in guarded compounds, their passports were confiscated, and they were threatened with violence. The Indian victims hail from states like Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Maharashtra, Gujarat, Punjab, Uttar Pradesh, and West Bengal.

Indian Embassy Reacts

The Indian Embassy in Thailand in a post on X said, “The Indian Embassy in Thailand, in close coordination with Indian Embassy in Myanmar and local authorities, secured repatriation of 549 Indians through Mae Sot in Thailand to India on 10 and 11 March 2025 by two special flights. They were rescued from scam centres operating in Myanmar in areas near the Myanmar-Thailand border”.

Poor Living Conditions Near Border

Several victims had been left stranded for weeks before being rescued. While conditions in Myanmar’s Myawaddy detention facility were relatively decent, those near the border faced extreme hardship. Reports suggest that over 500 people were confined in army-style tents with no proper toilets and limited food.The Mobile phones of the victims were also confiscated upon arrival, leaving detainees without communication.
Meanwhile, the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) has been actively working to secure the release of Indian nationals trapped in cybercrime centers across Southeast Asia. Authorities in Myanmar, under pressure from China, have recently intensified crackdowns on such illegal operations, leading to the release of thousands of foreign workers.

लोगों की निराशाजनक बातों, अपमान और तानों के बावजूद हेमंत अपने दृढ़ निश्चय पर अडिग रहे और अथक परिश्रम करते रहे। 16 अप्रैल, 2023 को यूपीएससी के नतीजे घोषित किए गए और हेमंत ने अखिल भारतीय रैंक (AIR) 884 हासिल की। बेंचमार्क विकलांगता (PWBD-1) वाले व्यक्ति के रूप में, उन्होंने 912 अंक प्राप्त किए- लिखित परीक्षा में 792 और LBSNAA (लाल बहादुर शास्त्री राष्ट्रीय प्रशासन अकादमी) में व्यक्तित्व परीक्षण Personality Test में 120, जो कि आधिकारिक तौर पर IAS अधिकारी बनने के लिए काफी हैं। जो लोग कभी उनका मजाक उड़ाते थे और उन्हें हतोत्साहित करने की कोशिश करते थे, अब वे ही उनकी अपार सफलता पर उन्हें बधाई दे रहे हैं।

Ukraine Agrees to Ceasefire Proposal with US Support

Ukraine has agreed to an immediate 30-day ceasefire proposed by the United States, provided that Russia accepts and adheres to the same terms. The announcement came late Tuesday evening after the extensive negotiations between high-ranking US and Ukrainian officials in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.
The ceasefire agreement is the first significant diplomatic breakthrough since Donald Trump’s administration took office earlier this year. According to a joint statement released after more than seven hours of talks, Ukraine expressed its readiness to implement the ceasefire immediately, provided Russia reciprocates simultaneously. The temporary truce could be extended further if both parties mutually agree.
Ukraine President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, who did not personally attend the negotiations in Saudi Arabia, welcomed the development. In a statement, Zelenskyy said: “Ukraine has been striving for peace from the first moment of the war, and we want to do everything to achieve peace as quickly and reliably as possible—so that there is no more war”. He added that if Russia agrees to halt all aggression—including missile attacks, drone strikes, and bombing raids—not only in the Black Sea but across the entire frontline, “the silence will take effect at that very moment”.
US Secretary of State Marco Rubio underscored that responsibility now lies with Moscow. “The ball is in the Russians’ court,” Rubio said after the discussions in Jeddah. “If the Kremlin does not agree to this deal, we’ll unfortunately know what the impediment is to peace”.

Clash Between Trump and Zelensky

This ceasefire announcement has come against the backdrop of a highly publicised clash between Zelenskyy and US President Donald Trump at the White House last month. During that meeting, Trump had suspended military aid and intelligence-sharing with Kyiv as leverage to push Ukraine towards negotiations with Russia. However, since Ukraine’s acceptance of this ceasefire proposal, Washington announced it would immediately resume military support and intelligence collaboration with Kyiv.
Alongside ceasefire discussions, officials from both countries also addressed a potential comprehensive agreement on Ukraine’s critical mineral resources. This minerals deal had previously stalled after disagreements between Trump and Zelenskyy but now appears back on track following constructive negotiations in Saudi Arabia.

Russian Reaction

Reactions from Moscow remain cautious and noncommittal. Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov warned against premature optimism without explicitly accepting or rejecting the deal yet. Russian hardliners have already voiced opposition towards any ceasefire agreement, arguing it would allow Ukraine valuable time to rearm and regroup. Russian State Duma deputy Viktor Sobolev described the proposal as “unacceptable,” suggesting it would undermine Russia’s strategic military objectives.
President Trump has indicated that he plans to discuss this proposal directly with Russian President Vladimir Putin later this week, while Secretary Rubio will convey details formally through diplomatic channels.
As Ukraine takes this significant step towards ending hostilities after more than three years of devastating conflict, global attention now shifts squarely onto Russia’s response.
