The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) Parliamentary Party is set to conduct its weekly ‘Mangal Milan’ assembly on Tuesday, August 4, in the capital city of New Delhi. The meeting is anticipated to begin at 9:30 AM and will take place at the GMC Balayogi Auditorium, which is situated within the Parliament Library Building. The ‘Mangal Milan’ meeting held on July 28 concluded with significant addresses from prominent ministers. Union Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju spoke about legislative priorities and strategies, while Prime Minister Narendra Modi was also present, engaging with coalition members. Additionally, Union Minister of Commerce and Industry Piyush Goyal provided insights on the strategic benefits and successes stemming from India’s recent Free Trade Agreements (FTAs). Meanwhile, Union Minister Rajiv Ranjan Singh discussed the government’s initiatives and future objectives for the development of the fisheries sector.

Important cabinet members, including Union Home Minister Amit Shah and Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, actively participated in the previous meeting. The involvement of these high-profile leaders underscores the importance of these sessions in shaping coalition strategy and policy direction.

Following the most recent meeting, various issues were highlighted by opposition leaders in Parliament. Notably, Leader of Opposition in the Rajya Sabha and Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge articulated claims concerning controversial government actions. This was in the context of the police response to protesters on July 20, alongside ongoing discussions related to the Ayodhya Ram Mandir donation scandal.

Opposition’s Stance and Criticism

Kharge has called for the Prime Minister to address the alleged misappropriation of funds related to donations for the Ayodhya Ram Mandir, highlighting concerns over the management of funds under the oversight of the Prime Minister. He asserted that the Modi government must provide satisfactory responses to pressing questions raised by the opposition bloc in Parliament.

The opposition’s campaign includes protests within the Parliament premises, emphasising their call for Amit Shah’s presence in the House. MPs have expressed frustration over Shah’s absence while demanding an explanation for police actions against protesters.
