Ayodhya Celebrations Highlight Cultural Heritage

In Ayodhya, a Shobha Yatra was organised by the Uttar Pradesh Tourism and Culture Department on Saturday, symbolising Lord Ram’s return from exile. The procession commenced at Saket Mahavidyalaya, culminating at Ram Katha Park. It featured 21 tableaux that illustrated episodes from the Ramcharitmanas as well as various welfare initiatives from both the central and state governments. Tourism and Culture Minister Jaiveer Singh described the event as a significant opportunity to promote Sanatan traditions and heritage on a global scale.

Prior to the event, Singh mentioned that the organisers aimed to surpass previous Deepotsav records, underlining the significance of the occasion. The celebrations reflect a deep-rooted cultural heritage, bringing together people from various backgrounds to partake in the festivities.

Deepotsav Celebrated Along Saryu Riverfront

Ayodhya also hosted its 10th Deepotsav along the Saryu riverfront, where students and volunteers participated in the diya-lighting celebrations across 56 ghats. The organisers had set an ambitious target of lighting 30 lakh diyas during the event. Additional Chief Secretary for Tourism and Culture, Amrit Abhijat, indicated that the objective was not only to surpass previous Guinness World Records but also to foster public participation in the celebrations.

Hotels in Ayodhya were fully booked, with visitors arriving from various states, including Maharashtra, Gujarat, and Bihar. The programme included arrangements for 3D effects and 2,100 lasers, alongside a presentation at Ram Katha Park that traced Ayodhya’s historical journey from 1528 to its current development.
