Dhurandhar Franchise Surpasses Rs 3,000 Crore Mark Globally

The CSR Journal Magazine

The spy-thriller Dhurandhar has been recognised as the most successful Indian cinematic franchise internationally, surpassing significant benchmarks set by previous blockbusters. The franchise includes Dhurandhar and its sequel, Dhurandhar: The Revenge, both of which have realised remarkable box office earnings.

As of now, Dhurandhar has amassed a total of Rs 3,019.35 crore worldwide within just 26 days of its release. This figure has allowed it to outpace illustrious franchises such as Baahubali 2: The Conclusion and Pushpa 2: The Rule, marking a new pinnacle in Indian cinema.

The film series, directed by Aditya Dhar, has proven to be a game changer for the Indian film industry by being the first to achieve such high earnings, particularly in the box office domain, where competition has been fierce.

Dhurandhar’s Box Office Performance

Regarding individual earnings, the first installment, Dhurandhar, has reportedly earned approximately Rs 1,307.35 crore, while its sequel, Dhurandhar: The Revenge, has contributed around Rs 1,712 crore. This cumulative result positions the franchise far above the totals of other notable series.

The Baahubali franchise has achieved a total of Rs 2,438 crore, with its films grossing Rs 650 crore and Rs 1,788 crore respectively. In comparison, the Pushpa franchise has reached a total of Rs 2,092.20 crore, earning Rs 350.10 crore and Rs 1,742.10 crore from its films.

What makes the Dhurandhar achievement particularly significant is its milestone as the first Indian film series to have both its installments breaking into the Rs 1,000 crore club, indicating exceptional audience reception and box office strength.

Future Prospects and Market Strategy

Dhurandhar: The Revenge has shown impressive performance at the box office, grossing Rs 414.50 crore overseas and approximately Rs 1,297.50 crore in India within the same 26-day period. These figures were registered despite the film not being released in major international markets, including China and the Gulf region, highlighting its robust domestic appeal.

However, recent trends suggest that the film’s collection might be experiencing a decline as it enters its fourth week. Reports indicate that on its fourth Monday, Dhurandhar: The Revenge earned around Rs 0.75 crore overseas and Rs 5.20 crore nett in India, signalling a slowdown in box office momentum.

The success of Dhurandhar goes beyond mere financial figures. The franchise has set new standards for Indian cinema, particularly within Bollywood, by demonstrating the potential for Indian narratives to resonate on a global scale and achieve extraordinary commercial success.
