Zomato Founder Deepinder Goyal Reveals Details on Device Temple

The CSR Journal Magazine

Deepinder Goyal, the founder of Zomato, is preparing to launch his new device, Temple, with pre-orders expected to begin next week. The Temple is a compact, pill-shaped product designed to be worn between the forehead and the ear, a feature that has already raised considerable interest among potential users.

The design of Temple is set to be available in six different colour variations. Goyal engaged with curious potential users on X, responding to numerous inquiries about its functionalities and aesthetics. In addressing these queries, Goyal acknowledged that many of the concerns expressed by users were valid, given the device’s innovative nature.

Goyal explained the unique aspects of Temple, noting that it has been designed to remain securely in place with single-use Grips that function like adhesive tape. Importantly, the device aims to provide a comfortable experience for its users, as Goyal noted that individuals would hardly notice it in use.

Practical Usage and Features of Temple

In response to whether Temple maintains its position during movement or while swimming, Goyal stated that it is exceptionally adherent, allowing users to run and jump without any concern for it shifting. He further elaborated that the device is suitable for various activities such as showering and swimming but should not be used for scuba diving.

On the question of Grips’ reusability, Goyal clarified that while Temple can be removed at any time, each Grip is designed for single use; therefore, it is essential to apply a new Grip each time. He reassured users of the device’s stability during activities, noting that Temple’s smooth edges prevent it from becoming dislodged even when altering clothing. A Grip typically lasts for about seven days, coinciding with the device’s battery life, although it is recommended to change it every two to three days.

Additionally, Goyal mentioned that users can engage in facial cleansing, showering, skincare, and makeup application while wearing Temple without any discomfort. He jokingly noted the “medical grade” quality of the Grips, suggesting that they might even prevent skin irritation.

Health Monitoring Capabilities and Launch Details

Beyond its aesthetic elements, Temple’s primary feature relates to health monitoring. The device is engineered to assess blood flow to the brain, utilising a system known as Brain Flow, which Goyal claims is the first continuous, wearable measurement of this type. However, some individuals remain sceptical due to the lack of peer-reviewed studies supporting the device’s claims.

Regarding the upcoming launch, Temple will be offered in six colour options: True Gold, Rose Gold, Black Mirror, Real Jade, Deep Blue, and Purple Funk, specifically for the launch edition. Goyal indicated that the pre-orders could open as early as next week and that interested customers would need to apply for early access through Temple’s official website.

While the exact pricing remains undisclosed, Goyal previously hinted that the cost may be around $1,000, which translates to approximately Rs 1 lakh. The anticipation surrounding Temple continues to grow as more details emerge ahead of its anticipated launch.
