Karnataka, India: Vedanta Iron Ore Karnataka (IOK), a leading mining company committed to sustainable and responsible mining practices, launched the Swachhata Pakhwada 2023 scheduled between 16 – 30 Nov 2023, at its Karnataka facility in Chitradurga. The inauguration ceremony, held at the Vedanta Iron Ore Karnataka premises, was attended by Dr Suresh Prasad, Regional Controller of Mines, Indian Bureau of Mines (IBM), Bengaluru, Dr Sudhakara T. L., Senior Mining Geologist, IBM, Bengaluru, Shrishaila Gouda, CEO, Vedanta IOK, Mr. Umapathi T. R. Union Leader, other key executives, employees, Union members, and so on. The event commenced with a ceremonial lamp lighting, symbolizing the illumination of knowledge and awareness in the pursuit of cleanliness.
Speaking at the event, Shrishaila Gouda, CEO, Vedanta Iron Ore Karnataka, expressed the company’s commitment to environmental stewardship. “We, at Vedanta, strive towards maintaining a cleaner and greener environment, and the Swachhata Pakhwada reinforces our commitment towards maintaining cleanliness and hygiene in our surroundings. As a part of the Swachhata Pakhwada event, sapling plantations, distribution of Swachhata Kit to the workmen, a skit and dance performance on Swachhata by the school children was conducted. Vedanta Iron Ore Karnataka has planned a series of activities, including cleanliness drives, installation of sanitary vending machines in schools, distribution of steel dustbins, awareness campaigns, sapling plantation programs, and educational workshops.
