Uttar Pradesh Transformed: CM Yogi Secures ₹6,500 Crore Investment from Global Investors

The CSR Journal Magazine

Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Thursday met with 45 senior professionals from 25 leading Indian and international companies, including CEOs, CFOs, and directors from sectors such as finance, automotive, pharmaceuticals, beverages, and global capability centers. Convened under the aegis of the WMG Group, the meeting focused on investment opportunities, industrial development, and Uttar Pradesh’s roadmap for economic growth.

Investors Pledge ₹6,500 Crore Across Key Sectors

Impressed by the state’s industry-friendly policies and robust infrastructure, investors presented proposals totaling approximately ₹6,500 crore. Projects span manufacturing, green energy, biorefineries, pharmaceuticals, food processing, and services, expected to create significant employment and accelerate economic development.

Entrepreneurs expressed strong confidence in Uttar Pradesh, citing stable law and order, modern infrastructure, and proactive governance as key incentives. He added, “Extortion and protection rackets had become an unofficial system. On the very first day of my government, a firm resolve was taken to end this disorder. As a result, over the past eight and a half years, the state has witnessed no riots, no curfews, and has been freed from the grip of the mafia.”

CM Highlights Transformation from Past Challenges

Welcoming the delegation, CM Yogi said, “Forget the nightmare before 2017. Today’s Uttar Pradesh is safe, stable, and full of opportunities.” He recalled the state’s previous law-and-order issues, curfews, and mafia influence, asserting that comprehensive reforms over the past eight and a half years have restored security and investor confidence. “Every penny of the investor is safe,” he said, emphasizing the role of societal and governmental stability in economic growth.

Highlighting the transformation in infrastructure, the Chief Minister said, “In 2017, Uttar Pradesh had barely one and a half expressways, whereas today the state accounts for nearly 55 percent of India’s total expressway network. The country’s largest rail network, five international airports, inland waterways, rapid rail projects, and modern urban transport systems, such as ropeways, are being developed across the state. This remarkable progress is the outcome of planned, visionary investments.”

Infrastructure and Industrial Growth Accelerate

The Chief Minister highlighted monumental improvements, including the expansion of expressways from 1.5 to nearly 55 percent of India’s total network, five international airports, inland waterways, rapid rail, ropeways, and other modern urban transport systems.

Schemes like One District One Product (ODOP), the Defence Manufacturing Corridor, and the Bundelkhand Industrial Development Authority are providing new impetus to industrial development. He added, “The state hosts premier institutions such as IIMs, IITs, NITs, engineering universities, and technical institutes. With over 96 lakh units, it has the largest MSME base in the country. The One District One Product (ODOP) scheme has earned national recognition. Six nodes of the Defence Manufacturing Corridor are under development, with the production of the BrahMos missile in Lucknow standing as a strong example. Additionally, the Bundelkhand Industrial Development Authority is being developed in Jhansi to provide comprehensive facilities for investors in the region.”

Global Investor Summit Transforms UP’s Image

CM Yogi pointed to the Global Investor Summit 2023, which attracted proposals worth ₹40 lakh crore, as evidence of Uttar Pradesh’s transformation. He encouraged investors to visit the state, witness the development firsthand, and compare Uttar Pradesh’s policies and ecosystem with other states.

Entrepreneurs like Arun Dubey, returning to his home state, praised the visible transformation and expressed intent to invest in bio-refineries and other sectors.

Towards Viksit Bharat

The Chief Minister emphasized that achieving Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of Viksit Bharat requires a Viksit Uttar Pradesh. Every district, urban body, and village is being integrated into the development process, ensuring sustained growth and a favorable environment for investors, while the government is expanding outreach offices across the country to attract further investments.
