Thane-Mumbai Green Corridor Facilitates Swift Organ Delivery

The CSR Journal Magazine

The establishment of the Thane-Mumbai green corridor has significantly improved the logistics of organ transplantation. Recently, this corridor enabled a 43-year-old woman from Bhopal to receive a timely liver transplant. The organ transportation was facilitated between Thane and Mumbai, allowing for a journey of 26 kilometers to be completed in just 30 minutes.

26-Km Organ Transport Completed in Just 30 Minutes

The vital organ was transported from Jupiter Hospital located in Thane at 13:45 hours and successfully arrived at Nanavati Hospital in Vile Parle, Mumbai, at 14:16 hours. This rapid transit was crucial for the patient, who was suffering from acute liver failure compounded by severe jaundice and cognitive disturbances that suggested neurological complications.

Patient Listed Under Supra-Urgent Category for Transplant

According to a representative from Nanavati Max Hospital, the patient’s situation deteriorated quickly, creating an urgent need for medical intervention. The hospital noted that an immediate liver transplant was essential to prevent further organ failure. Subsequently, the liver transplant team, headed by Dr. Gaurav Chaubal, Director of Liver and Multi-Organ Transplant at Nanavati Max Hospital, registered her under the supra-urgent category of the transplant waiting list on March 8.

Donor Family’s Generosity Brings Hope to Multiple Patients

The hospital has acknowledged the generosity of the family in Thane who contributed to saving multiple lives, emphasizing the significance of organ donation in providing renewed hope to those suffering from end-stage organ failure.

Mumbai Traffic Police Facilitate Life-Saving Green Corridor

The Mumbai Traffic Police have confirmed that the green corridor operation took place on March 11, emphasizing the critical role this initiative plays in expediting organ deliveries. According to their report, the police facilitated the movement, ensuring that the organ reached its destination promptly, thereby reflecting the importance of such corridors in emergency medical situations.

Coordinated Effort Highlights Importance of Organ Transport Network

This green corridor not only underscores the urgency required in organ transplants but also illustrates the collaborative efforts of hospitals, law enforcement, and families in the life-saving process. The successful transport of the organ is a testament to the advancements in medical logistics and the commitment to saving lives in Mumbai and beyond.
