SS Rajamouli Celebrates a Decade of Baahubali with ‘Baahubali: The Epic’ – Film Releasing in 2025

To commemorate ten years since the release of Baahubali: The Beginning, director SS Rajamouli has unveiled a new cinematic venture titled Baahubali: The Epic. This upcoming release will merge the two iconic instalments of the franchise into a single narrative, split into two parts, and will hit theatres globally on October 31, 2025.

Taking to X (formerly Twitter), Rajamouli shared the announcement with a special poster featuring lead actor Prabhas. He wrote, “Baahubali… The beginning of many journeys. Countless memories. Endless inspiration. It’s been 10 years. Marking this special milestone with #BaahubaliTheEpic, a two-part combined film. In theatres worldwide on October 31, 2025.”

The revamped edition of Baahubali has been re-edited to weave together Baahubali: The Beginning (2015) and Baahubali 2: The Conclusion (2017), offering a streamlined experience through newly added narrative cuts. The film will be released in four major Indian languages: Telugu, Hindi, Tamil, and Malayalam.

Fans across the globe expressed their excitement, with one commenting, “OMG can’t wait… Personally I loved ‘Bahubali 2’ more. Amarendra Baahubali is Love, but ‘Baahubali 1’, of course, builds the all-important base. Overall, I’m seated to see how both are combined into 1.” Another enthusiastic follower asked, “Can we expect Part 3 of ‘Baahubali’?”

Sivudu’s Journey to Mahishmati: From Love to Legacy

The Baahubali saga revolves around the life of Sivudu, a brave young man who sets out on a journey of self-discovery, leading to the revelation of his royal heritage and his rightful place in the kingdom of Mahishmati. The first film focused on his mission to free the imprisoned Devasena, while the second explored the tragic betrayal of Amarendra Baahubali, revealing the answer to the legendary question: “Kattappa ne Baahubali ko kyun maara?”

The film franchise features a star-studded cast including Prabhas, Rana Daggubati, Anushka Shetty, Tamannaah Bhatia, Ramya Krishnan, Sathyaraj, and Nassar. Visually grand and emotionally powerful, the two films redefined Indian cinema’s approach to storytelling, action, and visual effects.

According to trade reports from Sacnilk, the original Baahubali: The Beginning collected Rs 650 crore at the global box office, while its sequel amassed a massive Rs 1788.06 crore, making Baahubali 2 the third-highest grossing Indian film to date, trailing only behind Dangal and Pushpa 2: The Rule.

The Baahubali series was a trailblazer in creating pan-India appeal and helped popularise sequel-based storytelling in Indian cinema. One fan summed it up, saying, “Baahubali raised the bar for TFI and Indian cinema as well. Ten glorious years of the masterpiece from #SSRajamouli.”

Rajamouli’s Next Epic ‘SSMB29’ Set for 2027, Starring Mahesh Babu

Rajamouli, who last directed the internationally acclaimed RRR in 2022, is also working on a high-budget project tentatively titled SSMB29 with Mahesh Babu in the lead. The film, which may also star Priyanka Chopra and Prithviraj Sukumaran, is reportedly in its early stages of development and is expected to release on March 25, 2027, aligning with the fifth anniversary of RRR. As of now, no official release date or confirmation has been issued, but industry sources suggest the budget could reach Rs 1000 crore.

Meanwhile, anticipation continues to build for Baahubali: The Epic. The official Baahubali X handle posted, “10 years ago, a question united the nation… Now the question and the answer return together in ONE grand epic. #BaahubaliTheEpic releases worldwide on October 31st, 2025.”

As the countdown begins, audiences are eager to return to the mythical kingdom of Mahishmati and relive the legend that reshaped Indian cinema — this time, in a bold new format.
