Rohini Acharya, Lalu Prasad Yadav’s daughter and Tejashwi Yadav’s sister, announced on Saturday that she was quitting politics and disowning her family a day after the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD)-Congress-led Mahagathbandhan’s rout in the Bihar Assembly Election results 2025.
In a post on X, Rohini Acharya wrote that she had been asked to quit politics and disown her family by Sanjay Yadav and Rameez. She added that she was therefore taking all the blame.
“I’m quitting politics and I’m disowning my family… This is what Sanjay Yadav and Rameez asked me to do, and I’m taking all the blame,” Rohini wrote in her post on X.
Were Rohini giving signals in advance?
Well, this is not the first time that Rohini has written such a thing about the family. Earlier in September also he had written something similar on X. Then Rohini had written, ‘I have fulfilled my duty and religion as a daughter and sister and will continue to do so in future also. I have no desire for any position, nor do I have any political ambitions. For me, my self-respect is paramount.’ At that time it was believed that Rohini was keeping distance from the family. But Rohini openly supported Tejashwi in the assembly elections. However, after the election results came, he has said that he will distance himself from both politics and family.

Rohini Acharya made her political debut in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections. He contested from Saran, RJD’s strongest and traditional seat. But he had to face defeat in this election.
