Russian President Vladimir Putin and Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi on Tuesday held a detailed telephonic conversation, focusing on the escalating situation in West Asia, bilateral cooperation and key global developments, the Kremlin said.

The two leaders underscored the urgent need for de-escalation in the region and reiterated their support for diplomatic solutions to ongoing conflicts.

Ceasefire Call And Multilateral Approach

According to the Russian Presidential press office, both sides emphasised the need for an immediate cessation of hostilities and the pursuit of political agreements that respect the interests of all countries in the region.

They highlighted the importance of sustained dialogue and multilateral engagement, noting that long-term peace in West Asia can only be achieved through inclusive diplomatic efforts rather than military escalation.

The leaders also stressed the need to ensure regional stability, protect economic interests and maintain secure trade and energy routes amid ongoing tensions.

Energy Projects And Economic Engagement

A key focus of the conversation was bilateral cooperation in the energy sector, with both leaders reviewing progress on major investment projects.

Discussions covered collaboration in oil and gas exploration, as well as renewable energy initiatives, reflecting a broader push to diversify energy partnerships. Russia and Egypt have been working together on several strategic projects, including nuclear energy cooperation and industrial development.

Both sides reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening trade ties and expanding economic engagement, with a focus on long-term investments and infrastructure collaboration.

Broader Strategic And Global Coordination

Putin and el-Sisi also exchanged views on wider global developments, signalling continued coordination between Moscow and Cairo on international issues.

The leaders discussed expanding cooperation in cultural, scientific and technological fields, which are seen as key pillars supporting their broader strategic partnership.

Officials said the conversation reflects a sustained pattern of high-level engagement between the two countries, which have deepened ties in recent years through economic collaboration, defence cooperation and coordination in multilateral forums.

Both leaders agreed to remain in close contact and continue consultations on regional and global issues, underlining a shared approach that combines diplomacy with long-term strategic and economic cooperation.
