Cinema halls will host another screening of Piku since the Shoojit Sircar film marks its tenth anniversary. Fans will be able to experience the moving father-daughter story this May 9, 2025 during the new theatre screening.
Taking to Instagram on Saturday, actor Deepika Padukone made the announcement with a special video that featured snippets from the film and a heartfelt tribute to her late co-star, Irrfan Khan. Alongside the video, Deepika wrote, “A film that will always have my heart – PIKU is back in theatres on 9th May, 2025 to celebrate its 10th Anniversary! Irrfan, we miss you! And think about you every so often…”
Amitabh Bachchan Shares the Big News
The news of the film’s return to the big screen was also shared by veteran actor Amitabh Bachchan through a promotional video. In it, he greets viewers with a warm “Nomoshkar” and reminds them of the memorable road trip that Piku, her father Bhaskor, and their driver took. He describes the journey as unpredictable, full of emotions and laughter, and urges audiences to watch it again in theatres.
Deepika Padukone takes the lead role in Piku when it debuted on May 8, 2015 alongside Amitabh Bachchan as Bhaskor Banerjee and Irrfan Khan playing Rana. The movie features secondary roles played by Jisshu Sengupta and Moushumi Chatterjee together with Raghubir Yadav. A humorous movie follows the heartwarming complex bond between a young woman and an aging father who suffers from hypochondria.
