Murder Mystery in Rajasthan: Man’s body found in drum, salt used for decomposition

The CSR Journal Magazine

A brick kiln worker, originally from Shahjahanpur district in Uttar Pradesh and residing in a rented accommodation in Khairthal-Tijara district, Rajasthan, was found dead with his body stuffed in a drum covered with salt to hasten decomposition.

On Sunday, after residents of Adarsh Colony complained of a foul smell, police inspected the house and discovered the body of Hansram alias Suraj on the rooftop. His wife Sunita, three children, and the landlord’s son Jitendra were missing, confirmed Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Rajendra Singh Nirwan.

According to the forensic team, Hansram’s throat was slit with a sharp object, and excessive blood loss led to his death. “Salt had been put over the body to speed up decomposition,” Nirwan stated.

Police shared that the victim had been living in the rooftop room for about one-and-a-half months and worked at a brick kiln. Neighbours revealed that Hansram, a liquor addict, was last seen drinking with Jitendra on Saturday evening. Since then, both families have gone missing.

A case has been registered, the body has been sent for postmortem, and a search operation is underway to locate the missing persons.
