Last Phase of Mumbai-Nagpur Samruddhi Express is Set for Inauguration

The last phase of the Mumbai-Nagpur Samruddhi Express is set to be completed soon. The 76 km road stretching from Igatpuri to Amane will be inaugurated along with the southbound carriageway of the Thane Creek Bridge on 1 May, the state’s foundation day.

“Both projects are fully ready for inauguration. Once open, connectivity to Navi Mumbai, Pune and the upcoming Navi Mumbai International Airport will improve greatly, said Anil Gaikwad to the reporters. He is the managing director of the Maharashtra State Road Development Corporation (MSRDC).

Various Phases

Envisioned by Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, the Mumbai Nagpur Samruddhi Expressway was opened to the public in three phases. The first phase of the highway, from Nagpur to Shirdi, was inaugurated by PM Modi in December 2022, while the second phase from Shirdi to Bharvir in Nasik was inaugurated in May 2023 by CM Eknath Shinde. The third phase, from Bharvir to Igatpuri, was inaugurated in March 2024 by the MSRDC minister Dada Bhuse.

The last phase of the Expressway is up for inauguration by PM Modi on May 1, when he will be in Mumbai to inaugurate the World Audiovisual and Entertainment Summit at BKC.
