Jammu and Kashmir: US and Pakistani Currencies Discovered on Balloons Near LoC

The CSR Journal Magazine

Authorities in Akhnoor, Jammu and Kashmir, reported the discovery of two balloons containing currencies from the United States and Pakistan attached to them, specifically USD and PKR. This incident occurred near the Line of Control (LoC) and has prompted local law enforcement to initiate an investigation to ascertain the legitimacy of the currencies. Further updates on the matter are anticipated as officials continue their inquiries.

Counter-Terrorism Operations Intensify in the Region

This discovery coincides with ongoing counter-terrorism efforts being conducted by the Indian armed forces within the Union Territory. Over the past 20 days, security forces have reportedly neutralized six terrorists during operations across the Jammu region. The Jammu-based White Knight Corps of the Indian Army conveyed that these actions have significantly impacted the local terror infrastructure in Jammu and Kashmir.

Recent Operations and Successes

On February 4, two terrorists were killed during an engagement in the Jophar Forest area of Basantgarh as part of Operation KIYA. On the same day, another terrorist was eliminated in the Dichhar area of Kishtwar under Operation Trashi-I. The tactical efforts of security forces led to further successes on February 19, when three additional terrorists were killed during cordon and search operations in Kishtwar, exemplifying the ongoing commitment to counter-terrorism measures.

Foiled Infiltration Attempt Along the LoC

Security forces also successfully thwarted an infiltration attempt along the Line of Control in the Sunderbani sector. Alert troops from the Indian Army managed to prevent the unauthorized cross-border movement. Following these operations, a significant cache of arms and ammunition was recovered, further underscoring the ongoing challenges the security apparatus faces in the region.

Coordinated Response Highlights Operational Efficiency

During Operation KIYA, officials shared insights into the collaboration among various agencies. They noted that the operation was prompted by specific intelligence input provided by the Jammu and Kashmir Police. The ground forces, including personnel from the White Knight Corps, coordinated closely with the Jammu and Kashmir Police and Central Reserve Police Force, effectively reinforcing the operational perimeter to prevent any escape by the combatants.

Continuous Monitoring and Surveillance in Affected Areas

The operation concluded successfully, with officials emphasizing the coordination, tactical precision, and professionalism displayed during the mission. The area remains under continuous surveillance to ensure the stability and security of the region following these high-stakes operations.
