Members of the team were seen on board enjoying the journey, which follows their quarter-final match against Afghanistan. The official Instagram account of the Indian cricket team provided a glimpse of the experience, highlighting the positive atmosphere during the trip. The Nozomi line connects Tokyo with Nagoya and other major cities, making it a practical choice for the Indian team’s travel. This arrangement was part of their pre-planned logistics, as the team had previously considered accommodation in Tokyo and Osaka, both within an hour and a half reach from Nagoya by train.

Focus on Upcoming Quarter-Final Match

Now that the team is in Nagoya, they are preparing for their quarter-final match against Afghanistan, scheduled for Monday, September 28, at Nisshin. The match will commence at 10:30 AM IST. As one of the four seeded teams in the tournament, India entered the competition directly in the quarter-finals, alongside Pakistan, Bangladesh, and Sri Lanka.

The tournament format divides the remaining six teams into two groups. Group A includes Afghanistan, Japan, and Nepal, while Group B consists of Hong Kong China, Malaysia, and Oman. The top two teams from each group will proceed to the quarter-final stage.

The men’s cricket competition is slated to run from September 24 to October 3, featuring a total of ten participating teams. India aims to secure the gold medal once again, a title they previously held during the 2023 Asian Games in Hangzhou.

This edition marks cricket’s fourth appearance at the Asian Games, following its inclusion in the Guangzhou 2010, Incheon 2014, and Hangzhou 2023 events. Meanwhile, the Indian women’s cricket team has recently defended their gold medal at this year’s games.

On September 22, the women’s team triumphed against Sri Lanka by 147 runs in the final match held at Korogi Sports Park in Nisshin. India achieved a substantial total of 216 runs for a loss of 3 wickets in 20 overs, setting a new record for the highest team score in women’s cricket at the Asian Games. The Sri Lankan team was bowled out for just 69 runs in 15.4 overs, illustrating India’s dominance in the match.
