A Delta Airlines flight suffered a crash-landing at Toronto Pearson International Airport on Monday leaving 18 passengers injured. The flight was carrying 76 passengers and four crew members from Minneapolis when it landed upside down.
Emergency teams responded swiftly to the incident once the aircraft flipped over. The aircraft made its ground contact in an upside-down position as reported by local officials who confirmed that nobody lost their life in the incident. The incident resulted in critical injuries to three passengers including one child, a 60-year-old man, and a 40-year-old woman. The injured passengers were transported to local trauma centres. Most of the injured passengers received treatment at hospitals in close proximity following the incident.

Investigation Underway

Operations at Pearson Airport stopped temporarily after the accident but later flight services started again when emergency teams secured the scene. In a statement, the airport declared a statement saying, “We are aware of the situation and have taken all necessary precautions.”
The runway remained dry during the crash despite strong winds and snowstorms that hit the region during the weekend. The investigation team continues to find the definitive reason behind this event even though no significant crosswind patterns were observed during the incident. Airport authorities request the public to wait for investigation results before making any speculations.
Social media footage captured dramatic scenes of the crash, with some passengers describing the aircraft as “upside down” and recounting their experiences of evacuation. One passenger who posted a video from the scene said, “Most people appear to be okay. We’re all getting off.”

Delta Airline Expresses Support

Soon after the plane crash, Delta Airlines showed its support to the passengers who were affected. Airline Chief Executive Officer Ed Bastian delivered his sympathy to all affected passengers, and the company started conducting a comprehensive investigation into the accident. The scene of the accident is being investigated by the Canadian Transportation Safety Board together with U.S. Federal Aviation Administration investigation teams.
This incident follows a series of high-profile aviation accidents in recent weeks, raising concerns about flight safety. However, no further details have been released regarding the potential causes of the crash as authorities continue their work.
