A woman and her family from Bilaspur, Chhattisgarh, have accused a man named Harshdeep and his family of marrying her under false pretences concerning his employment and wealth. The allegations detail that Harshdeep falsely claimed to be employed as a Data Analyst Manager at a prominent company in Jaipur, with an annual salary of Rs 48 lakh. Furthermore, his family allegedly misrepresented their financial status, claiming ownership of 150 to 200 acres of land and stating that Harshdeep’s father, Lodhan Ram, operated a business with a turnover of Rs 88 lakh.

The family of the woman allegedly relied on these representations when agreeing to the marriage proposal, which subsequently led to significant trust issues once the discrepancies were uncovered.

Marriage Ceremony and Following Disputes

The marriage ceremony took place on March 12, 2026, at the Hotel Patrician in Bilaspur. Following the wedding, the bride raised concerns regarding the authenticity of the information provided by Harshdeep, particularly the details outlined in his bio-data. She claims that the documents submitted were fabricated, leading to growing uncertainty about his family’s capacity to meet the financial commitments purportedly made in the lead-up to the wedding.

Moreover, she alleged that while Harshdeep’s father had pledged to cover various wedding expenses, certain bills—such as catering and a car—remained unpaid. In addition, approximately Rs 6.76 lakh was reportedly obtained from her family both before and after the wedding under various justifications, further complicating the relationship between the two families.

The discovery of these alleged false claims created tension between the newlywed couple and their respective families, culminating in a formal dispute.

Police Investigation and Response

In light of the emerging concerns, the woman initially filed a complaint in Jashpur. The police there registered a zero FIR, which was subsequently transferred to the Bilaspur police for further investigation. The allegations encompass misrepresentations concerning employment, familial assets, and the financial demands made upon the woman’s family.

Additional Superintendent of Police (City), Pankaj Patel, confirmed that an FIR has been registered and indicated that the Bilaspur police are now conducting a thorough investigation. As part of their inquiry, officers have managed to contact Harshdeep and his parents, aiming to gather further information regarding the claims made in the woman’s complaint.

The investigation aims to determine the veracity of the allegations and assess the available documentation. Police officials have stated that they will proceed with further action based on the findings of their investigation.
