“Chai Bolo”: Congress Posts AI Video of PM Modi Selling Tea at Red-Carpet Event, BJP Hits Back

The CSR Journal Magazine

A fresh political controversy erupted after Congress spokesperson Ragini Nayak shared an AI-generated video showing Prime Minister Narendra Modi serving tea at what appears to be a red-carpet international event. The clip, posted on X with the caption “Now, who did this?”, depicts the Prime Minister dressed in a light blue coat and black trousers, holding a kettle and tea glasses, while a voice resembling his says, “Chai bolo, chai ye.”

BJP Accuses Congress of Mocking PM’s Background

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) swiftly condemned the video, calling it another attempt by the Opposition to belittle the Prime Minister’s humble origins. BJP spokesperson Shehzad Poonawalla accused the Congress of repeatedly mocking Modi’s past as a tea seller and targeting him for rising from a poor OBC background. He also claimed that Congress leaders had “abused him over 150 times” and even insulted his late mother in earlier political attacks.

“After Renuka Chowdhury insulted Parliament, now Ragini Nayak attacks and mocks PM Modi’s ‘chaiwala’ background. Naamdar Congress cannot stand a kamdar PM from the OBC community who has risen from a poor background. They mocked his chaiwala past earlier too, abused him 150 times, and even targeted his mother in Bihar. People will never forgive them,” Poonawalla wrote on X.

Previous AI Video Controversy Resurfaces

Poonawalla’s remarks referenced an earlier incident from September, when the Bihar Congress unit shared an AI-generated video portraying Modi’s late mother admonishing him over his political decisions.

The video, labelled “AI GENERATED,” sparked widespread criticism and eventually prompted the Patna High Court to order its removal from all social media platforms. Several Congress leaders were named in police complaints filed over the clip.

Congress Defends Itself

Responding to the uproar over the Bihar video, Congress leaders maintained that the intent was not to disrespect the Prime Minister or his mother. Party media head Pawan Khera argued that the video simply showed a mother guiding her son and that critics were misinterpreting the message. However, the BJP has insisted that the repeated circulation of such AI-based political content reflects a pattern of elitist mockery by the Congress.

Political Tensions Deepen Ahead of Elections

The latest AI video controversy has intensified the political war of words between the BJP and Congress, with both parties accusing each other of crossing ethical boundaries.

As AI-generated political content becomes more frequent, concerns about misinformation, personal attacks and manipulated narratives continue to grow, adding yet another layer of friction to an already heated political climate.
